Pine Belt Blues: Synchronicity, not Jungian
http://pinebeltblues.blogspot.com/2009/07/synchronicity-not-jungian.html
Not sure if I actually live in the Pine Belt anymore, but oh well. Friday, July 24, 2009. Synchronicity, not Jungian. Lucero has a new album coming out on October 6th. I love Lucero. They've got a new song up on their website called "The Devil and Maggie Chascarillo." I listened to it and thought three things: 1) wow, I can actually understand the words, even though I have no idea what Ben Nichols is talking about, 2) this is an awesome song, and 3) is that a horn section? http://pinebeltblues.blogspot.com/2009/07/letters_08.html
Not sure if I actually live in the Pine Belt anymore, but oh well. Wednesday, July 8, 2009. It's not enough that I have to be friended by people I went to (lower, middle) high school with, or random people I didn't like that much in undergrad, or friends of friends of friends from grad school, no. When I get friended on facebook by kids I used to baby-sit, I am officially OLD. At, you know, 26. Why do you do this to me? July 9, 2009 at 9:43 PM. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Pine Belt Blues: June 2009

Not sure if I actually live in the Pine Belt anymore, but oh well. Monday, June 22, 2009. A rare movie review. And by us I mean a straight white man? Much more interesting that way. I think my biggest problem with the movie is that it was kind of boring. Whereas a story about Chess Records in the 1950s should be exciting. Really exciting. I mean, it was the postwar boom in the 1950s! Friday, June 19, 2009. Right now, I love you more than anything else in the world. Especially cold. Thanks so much, Ellie.

So my cousin Lanier got married last weekend, which meant a big chance to see my dad's side of the family. I had traveling adventures in the form of airplane screwdrivers at 8 AM (free! And Jimmy's truck breaking down in Tuscaloosa, and, as always, the Campbell family provided plenty of hilarious quotes, mostly to do with football:. YOU WANT A BEER? Also my Uncle Ray spent th...

Not sure if I actually live in the Pine Belt anymore, but oh well. Monday, December 8, 2008. Well, I'm in the midst of writing a paper on Dolly Parton as a queer icon, but I really needed to share this short work story:. There's nothing worse than an undergrad who thinks he knows what he's talking about. I field "is this the archive? Where are the books? I said yes, I'm sure we do. Which CD in particular is he looking for? He asks, "Do you have LPs? And my response to "So you'll come out? And later I pul...

http://pinebeltblues.blogspot.com/2009_03_01_archive.html
Not sure if I actually live in the Pine Belt anymore, but oh well. Tuesday, March 24, 2009. Roasted Red Pepper Dip. As per Sarah's request, I'm posting this recipe for roasted red pepper dip, and I'm sorry that I don't have any pretty photos to go along with it. And it was very pretty. 3 red bell peppers. 1-2 unpeeled cloves of garlic. 3) Peel and seed the poblano pepper and chop into small pieces. Mix with the red pepper. Add salt and pepper to taste. Serve with pita chips (or whatever). Apparently I su...
