C-25 D&RGW 2-8-0, COAL FIRED. ACL - Limited Production. The C-25 was affectionately known as the Baby Mudhen because its pulling power was close to that of the K-27 class, those engines being known as Mudhens. The 375 when it was put into service in 1916 was the best steamer on the railroad at that time. Sadly, on June 21, 1949 the one and only C-25 on the D&RGW was scrapped at Alamosa, Colorado. 1:203 / 45 mm. Brass and Stainless Steel. 48 in (1.2 M). Simulated Stevenson valve gear. After twenty years of inactivity, #611 was taken to Birmingham, Alabama for overhaul at the Southern Railway’s Norris Yard workshops, emerging in 1982 to haul specials on the newly created Norfolk Southern railroad until 1994. CHINESE RAILWAYS QJ-CLASS 2-10-2, LIVE STEAM. The QJ-class 2-10-2s were the primary mainline freight locomotive on the Chinese rail network, and also used on heavy passenger trains. Their displacement by diesel locomotives began during the 1990s. Some were then used on industrial lines, also on the Jitong Railway located in Inner Mongolia. A few QJs remained in minor use until 2003 when they were finally withdrawn. The three U.S. based QJ-class locomotives can be found in regular excursion service.
