Go Be Delighted: This is Your Brain on NYC
http://gobedelighted.blogspot.com/2008/04/this-is-your-brain-on-nyc.html
Tuesday, May 27, 2008. This is Your Brain on NYC. Allegedly, exposure to the unfamiliar strengthens the brain. That said, NYC. Gave my brain quite a workout. From the moment I boarded the plane to JFK, my gray matter was forced to contend with the new, strange and unfamiliar. Here are the highlights (conveniently categorized into headings and sub-headings for your browsing pleasure):. The American Museum of Natural History. Let's start this off with a bang, shall we? This is the Cape York. A An Apatosaur...

Go Be Delighted: Elves in Iceland: A GBD Special Report
http://gobedelighted.blogspot.com/2008/01/elves-in-iceland-gbd-special-report.html
Friday, January 25, 2008. Elves in Iceland: A GBD Special Report. I am in love with Anthony Bourdain. Too bad he's married. Fix, Tony mentioned a peculiar fact that I'd heard before, but never believed:. That 80% of Iceland's population believes in gnomes, elves and fairies. A Google search procured plenty of evidence to support this assertion:. 2 i believe in all those things, too. i wish 80% of the people in my life did, it would make for far more interesting conversation. Go Be Delighted: Spontaneously in Seattle (Part 1)
http://gobedelighted.blogspot.com/2008/05/spotaneously-in-seattle-gbd-special.html
Wednesday, May 28, 2008. Spontaneously in Seattle (Part 1). As 2008 unraveled and I imagined what lay ahead, I forsaw myself spending Memorial Day weekend in the Pacific Northwest. Unfortunately, as May approached, a vacation didn't seem to be in the proverbial cards. Until my employer's tech team announced plans to"to upgrade the network" and give our Internet-less staff Friday off. And Wells Fargo blessed my Visa with 2% APR till 2009. And Priceline. And set out to Viretta Park, off of Lake Washington ...

Thursday, May 29, 2008. Spontaneously in Seattle (Part 2). After Saturday's chance encounter with culinary arts blogger Carina Ziegler. I added Issaquah's Tiger Mountain. To my Sunday itinerary. I was committed to checking out Snoqualmie Falls for Emilio's sake, but since Issaquah was on the way (and, admittedly, I kind of wanted to check it out anyhow. I rallied around 9:30 am and headed east on I-90 with hope of making it to both. I did, and I was not prepared for what awaited me. Oh - the mud. I haste...

Tuesday, December 25, 2007. I finally have a preferred cause of death to go with my preferred method of burial. Getting Mauled by an Escaped Tiger at the SF Zoo on Christmas. Sunday, December 16, 2007. Les Savy Fav @ the El Rey. Things you missed at the Les Savy Fav show:. Tim pulling an eager fan on stage to sing with him and then finger-fucking said fan in the mouth. Tim jumping into the audience and howling like a wolf with several concertgoers. Tim's account of the formation of the La Brea Tar Pits:.

Go Be Delighted: You are in for a Terrible Experience. Sorry.
http://gobedelighted.blogspot.com/2008/05/you-are-in-for-terrible-experience.html
Monday, May 5, 2008. You are in for a Terrible Experience. Sorry. Los Angeles is a lot more tolerable now that I have a backyard. I love the great outdoors. And now I've got them. The only downside to all of this is the yardwork, which occasionally leads to a startling encounter with wildlife. Like the squirrel who lives under the bamboo leaves. Or the moth that flew out of the bougainvillea. And onto my face. Or the bird that died on my porch steps. Where did it come from? What does this mean for me?
