Wednesday, October 1, 2008. I have chosen the bench to abstract. This is because I think it is not easy for students to find study benches to use as they are randomly scattered around the school. Hence the final pictogram can act as an index sign to point towards the direction where the benches are situated. Below is a picture of a bench taken at central forum. And here are the 5 stages of abstraction. I added in a blue arrow to point towards the direction of benches, turning the sign from iconic to index.

Wednesday, October 1, 2008. I designed a poster to "SAVE WHALES" because they are dying out fast from all the huntings. Here is the poster. I used black as the background so that the focus can be directed towards the whale. I added in the aiming scope to show that whales are always being hunted and futher emphasize the need to save them. I used red colours to make the more important words stand out and also red often represents "warning". Tell a Story in 8 Frames. Can you tell my story? I knew you can!

Monday, November 17, 2008. This is my final post for this blog. . Today was the day for submission and boy was it stressful! We didn't realise that everyone needed a copy of the design document in their portfolio so it was a mad dash to the finish line as we rushed to the library to print more copies for ourselves! What an eventful last day of school! I just want to thank all my class mates for the wonderful feedback throughout the sem and of course to our tutor Alfred for his guidance.
