Time to be a cheerful charlie. Debate club →. 12 February, 2009 · 1:23 pm. A happy ending to unemployment. I finally think I can say it … I’m employed again! I will be working as a designer at The National. In Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. Or maybe I have that confused with crazed deadline pressure … either way, I’m pumped. By Mark Friesen of some of The National’s entries to this year’s competition. You can also view an e-edition. See all of the section covers without registering). I am incredibly ex...

This to say about that. Chris Columbus' 'RENT' (2005). I knew that RENT. Was in trouble from its first scene, a rendition of "Seasons Of Love" (whose chorus consists of singing "How about love? A bunch of times) set in an empty theater. Note to director Chris Columbus: the goal of making a musical film is not to duplicate the experience of watching a stage musical. That's why we have film and. Theater. There's both, you see, because they are different. Heroin-addicted stripper. Tom? If a character succee...

This to say about that. Is it just me. Or is this Dollhouse promo very Tarantino-esque? Posted by stephanie b. It's waaaay better than fast food. Kate kinda reminds me of the Wendy's girl here. Except much cuter. Posted by stephanie b. Seth Gordon's 'The King of Kong: A Fistful of Quarters' (2007). The King of Kong. After a few months, Steve did manage to beat the record, but claiming the title proved to be a little more difficult than expected. For such a simple story, The King of Kong. Is surprisingly ...

This to say about that. Gore Verbinski's 'Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End' (2007). Who allowed this mess of a film to leave the editing room? Rather, who let production begin with that hodgepodge of a script? The Curse of the Black Pearl. Offered two hours of fairly fast-paced fun and clever one-liners, and though not quite as strong, Dead Man's Chest. Maintained the tone of the original. At World's End. Offers very little of either. While both previous PotC. Or men (Sao Feng) to define her femi...

This to say about that. Pushing Daisies': Season One. I want to love Pushing Daisies. I really do. I love Bryan Fuller's previous series Wonderfalls. I love Lee Pace, and I love the idea of a modern fairy tale. But I don't love Pushing Daisies. I like Pushing Daisies. And I'll probably keep up with it, but I just don't love it the way that I thought I would. Godspeed, Bryan Fuller. I'm putting my faith in you. Posted by stephanie b. Mirah has a new album of old stuff out called The Old Days Feeling.

This to say about that. Something TiVo's not gonna fix. I didn't indulge in TV much this past season, but I noticed a common aspect to all of the new shows that I did start watching: none of them had credit sequences longer than a couple of seconds. Short opening credits have become a staple of sitcoms whose running length minus commercials is clocking in around 20 minutes these days; however, hour-long shows have been adopting them as well. Eli Stone, Pushing Daisies, Life. Buffy the Vampire Slayer.

This to say about that. I've been putting off writing about this episode. It's not that "Jaynestown" is horrible — the plot doesn't make much sense, but that just means it's on par with the rest of the series. It's no worse than " Shindig. And it annoys me less than " The Train Job. But I've been avoiding it because I don't care about anything that happens in this episode. Ariel," and even "The Message" flesh out Jayne as a character better than this half-baked plot. The town already seems plenty distrac...

The Calhoun Tribune: Spotted: The Goodbye Gossip Girl
http://calhountribune.blogspot.com/2009/05/spotted-goodbye-gossip-girl.html
And with writing before me, i can't go far wrong. — v. woolf. Monday, May 18, 2009. Spotted: The Goodbye Gossip Girl. Season finale: two thumbs up for me. There were certain things I didn't like (the pointlessness of the plot to discover Gossip Girl's secret identity and the lameness of the Gossip Girl blast sent out during commencement - srsly who cares? But oh man, overall, I just sat on the couch beaming with joy (and a little bit of pride) as our Upper East Siders graduated. Boo on Dan for telling Se...
