Friday, April 24, 2015. The First Salad Thinnings of 2015. I think I didn't do many posts on the vegetable garden last year, and don't know how many I'll get done this year, but I need to at least post on my first salad from the garden! I did add some things from the store, though.) The garden is on the north side of our garage, so part of it gets shaded some of the day. This is looking south from the driveway. I have lots coming up! I started planting in January, and can't remember when I planted these,...

A Corner Garden: February 2014

http://acornergarden.blogspot.com/2014_02_01_archive.html

Sunday, February 23, 2014. Looking Back to the First Couple Weeks Of June, 2013. Purple poppy mallow is a reliable plant that forms a ground cover from the main stem. I haven't had any send roots down from the stems of the plants. I am so pleased that nature planted this common milkweed in our parking strip a number of years ago. I just planted these Coreopsis lanceolatas last spring, and they grew very well. Many of the native plants don't grow much the first year. Fleabane is native to pretty much the ...

A Corner Garden: January 2015

http://acornergarden.blogspot.com/2015_01_01_archive.html

Wednesday, January 28, 2015. I do not have blooms for Wildflower Wednesday, hosted by Gail, from Clay and Limestone. I do have seedheads, though. I leave the plants up all winter for the birds who eat the seeds, and for whatever critters live in them or use them in some way. I kind of like the looks of them, too. I had to include an Amsonia hubrichtii and its lovely foliage:. I can't remember which Liatris this is, maybe aspera:. Wednesday, January 28, 2015. Links to this post. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

A Corner Garden: May 2014

http://acornergarden.blogspot.com/2014_05_01_archive.html

Wednesday, May 28, 2014. As I frequently do, I am putting together a post for Gail's Wildflower Wednesday. The evening of. Gail normally highlights one or a few each time rather than posting a whole bunch, like I normally do. There are no rules, but I just decided to keep mine shorter than usual. Spring is in full swing here in SE Nebraska. It is a thrill going out each day to see how much things have grown, and what is blooming. Today, some of the Foxglove penstemons have opened their buds. I'm loving a...

A Corner Garden: September 2014

http://acornergarden.blogspot.com/2014_09_01_archive.html

Tuesday, September 23, 2014. The season flew by too quickly, and here we have arrived at September's Wildflower Wednesday, hosted by Gail, at Clay and Limestone. I trimmed back the asters this year, especially the New England ones, because they get so leggy and get a disease on the lower stems. They still have that, but they are loaded with buds, a few of which have opened, and been found by pollinators. This is a sweat bee of some kind. Sometimes the blooms of a Pitcher sage will be white. There is ...

A Corner Garden: March 2015

http://acornergarden.blogspot.com/2015_03_01_archive.html

Wednesday, March 25, 2015. Some Wildflowers are Making their Appearance. I hope you read hers and the other posts, and are inspired to plant more natives from your areas. I am thankful we had 1/2 to 3/4 an inch of rain yesterday, while it was 35 degrees. It's a good thing it wasn't a few degrees colder. We could still get some snow in the next few weeks, though. I hope to see more Golden alexander seedlings come up to share with local people. This clump is several years old. I should probably clip some o...

My Strolling Garden: Lubbock Arboretum Plant Sale 2015

http://thestrollinggarden.blogspot.com/2015/04/lubbock-arboretum-plant-sale-2015.html

Gardening was something I began maybe six years ago after renting a cottage with a small side garden. I quickly got the bug and realized that my green thumb had been passed on by my grandmother. Now, with my own home, I've started digging up patch by patch to create what someday will be my very own strolling garden. Saturday, April 25, 2015. Lubbock Arboretum Plant Sale 2015. I hadn't realize how far back the grounds went and was delighted to find several sitting ares with stone benches and pergolas.

Living and Gardening in the Ozarks. Saturday, February 21, 2015. New Bread Technique and Daily Routine. We are in a slight warm-up period but are getting a mix of rain and sleet. That means roads will be treachorous. We had planned a WM run but will probably cancel. From puppies January 8 2015. As you can see, Daisy decided to eat while Bella (black) is attacking my glove. DH decided he would do the grain feeding.I let him. It was more uncomfortable than the day before at l0°. My hands got numb ...Draggi...

http://countrylivingintheozarks.blogspot.com/2015_01_01_archive.html

Living and Gardening in the Ozarks. Sunday, January 25, 2015. We are enjoying a lovely period of warmer weather. It got up to 50° yesterday. We decided to make a run for some odds and ends we were getting low on.(cat and dog food). I called MIL and she was raring to go! 96 years old and I wish I had her enthusiasm. We got our shopping done and ate lunch out. This is going to be about our revamped feed room. Remember when I had to do chores and could not climb up into the feed bin in the loft? I still hav...

Tuesday, September 4, 2012. Here I am, a married woman. Just a little over two weeks into married life. It seems almost everyday someone else is asking me how the wedding was, how the honeymoon was, how much do I love married life? I love it, in case you were wondering. Even in the frustrating moments - because they don't last long, and his hugs make up for it and then some. (I'm a hugger.).
