Across the Hall in 2nd: April 2015
http://www.acrossthehall.net/2015_04_01_archive.html
Across the Hall in 2nd. Sunday, April 12, 2015. Contraction Kings and Queens. I'm pretty excited about my newest unit for TpT: Contraction Kings and Queens :). It's such a fun, engaging, and interactive unit you can use to introduce or reinforce contractions. And come on, what kid doesn't want to be the king or queen of anything and everything? There are also a variety of printables to use with your students. These printables do just that! And every king and queen needs a crown, right? If they complete i...
Across the Hall in 2nd: December 2015
http://www.acrossthehall.net/2015_12_01_archive.html
Across the Hall in 2nd. Monday, December 7, 2015. Are you counting down the days until winter break? As much as I cannot wait for a solid two weeks at home, where getting dressed is purely optional, I really do love this time of year at school. It's like holidays 24/7 for all of December for teachers. I mean there's books upon books dedicated to the holidays and we get to decorate our homes and our rooms! Okay, that's not always the funnest for some of us :). And if they get to use their imagination?

Across the Hall in 2nd. Friday, February 13, 2015. Five for Friday/ February 13, 2015. It's the day before Valentine's Day! I'm participating in 5 for Friday for the first time in a loooooong time! It's a good day! This little lady is 5 months old today! I would like to reinforce every single cliche that is out there: time is flying, babies don't keep, I'm exhausted but it's worth it, being a mom is a really super-amazing blessing. My beautiful, amazing, wonderful mom turned 60 this past weekend! My husb...

March 2015 - TGIF! - Thank God It's First Grade!
http://thankgoditsfirstgrade.blogspot.com/2015_03_01_archive.html
Tuesday, March 31, 2015. We have been spiraling our math learning big time in room 102. Since I was gone for so long on maternity leave I really wanted to be able to see what my students could do in math. So, while I still teach a focus lesson and most of our math activities are based on that specific standard (right now it's 3D shapes), I still have many of my math tubs spiral through older concepts. That is where my themed math centers come in! Follow the Rainbow: place value game! As always, in ALL my...

I hope you enjoy checking out the fun things we are learning! Thursday, July 2, 2015. Sun and Moon Crafts. My first baby is due in six days! I figure once he gets here I will be exhausted and not want to spend much time doing school work. So I've been trying to get as many things together for next year as I can. This morning I created sun and moon crafts that come with writing pages that my class can use next year. Here is a look at how they turned out:. To see the product in my store, just click here.

FREEBIE* Printable Desk Tags - Bumblebees. This year I printed my own desk tags. It was pretty easy once I made the template. I printed on cardstock and then laminated. Since our kids move from room to room for different classes we chose to put velcro on the back of the name tags. The font I used for the names is Penmanship Print. For those of you that want to print and hand write your names here you go! Anyone else find place value to be a VERY difficult concept for kids? Grab in on TpT. Last fall as I ...

One, Two, Three: Math Time!: What's The Angle?
http://onetwothreemathtime.blogspot.com/2013/11/whats-the-angle.html
I am writing this post from Sydney, Australia and it is late spring. The garden is full of life, I'm spending a lot of time in my hammock and the weather is beautiful! Well, it is today. It rained for a week before today! Either way, I have been thinking about angles a lot lately. Look for slightly opened doors, gaps between a building and an eave, a slice of pizza in someone's lunch box, and triangles in architecture (at least two angles of a triangle will be acute). Look for triangles in architecture (...

What happens when three generations move in across the hall. About Across the Hall. November 24, 2016. Warming up for Thanksgiving Dinner Talk.
