Another year, another Culture Festival. Each homeroom class or club plans an event or activity. Some classes perform skits, some make and display a large project, and others have interactive activities and games set up. This was Sarah’s first Culture Festival. The first thing you have to do when visiting Japan is change into the proper attire. Just kidding. For a little over $100 each we walked around Kyoto Movie Park like this for a couple of hours. Many people wanted to take pictures. We were like celebrities! Dusk at Kiyomizu Temple. Max taking a bite out of the Golden Pavilion. Himeji Castle looking good with a fresh coat of paint. Derp-face in Himeji Castle. I’m a beautiful lady. We went to Ishigaki Island! First stop: Banna Park. Max is jumping for joy!

This is a pretty nice beach considering most of the shoreline in this area is lined with concrete tetrapods. This park area is behind a temple called Kannon-ji. During my morning run it was deserted, but when I returned around noon there were some other people enjoying the cherry blossoms. Right before heading off to Korea, I met my friend Maiko at Osaka Castle. Several other people came too, and we walked around for a few hours before they settled on a location for the picnic.
