Howe on Juan de Fuca: June 2015
http://juandefucahowe.blogspot.com/2015_06_01_archive.html
Monday, June 29, 2015. Eila's appointment today went relatively quickly, only one drug and she had no issues last week to report. Dr. Tilford brought us images from Eila's MRI so that we could see. It's strange to look at these light and dark blobs and know that this is what we're fighting. Hoping to have surgery scheduled soon so that we can be back to just one white blob soon. Thursday, June 25, 2015. Monday, June 22, 2015. She pressed the button to start the reading:. But after that excitement, it was...

Howe on Juan de Fuca: July 2015
http://juandefucahowe.blogspot.com/2015_07_01_archive.html
Friday, July 31, 2015. Today she got to see the room she'll be in for radiation and had a CT scan to give the doctors images they'll use to line up the "lasers". Hopefully she'll be able to lie still enough during treatments so that she won't have to be sedated; they say it doesn't take long but she has to be perfectly still. So she practiced being a statue today. Thursday, July 30, 2015. Fun in Ann Arbor. Eila and I had a couple of days to spend in Ann Arbor making sure everything was still okay before ...

Howe on Juan de Fuca: April 2015
http://juandefucahowe.blogspot.com/2015_04_01_archive.html
Wednesday, April 29, 2015. Waiting is so hard. We feel like the walls around us are teetering and could collapse at any minute. We struggle with trying to lose ourselves keeping busy at work versus losing ourselves in sadness of a third tumor. Every family with a sick child must go through this and it is completely unfair. We feel so small but then we look at Eila, who is. So small, and know that we need to assure her that we are doing all we can and that everything will work out. But will it? If no, we ...

Howe on Juan de Fuca: August 2015
http://juandefucahowe.blogspot.com/2015_08_01_archive.html
Sunday, August 30, 2015. Eila and Joel returned home tonight from her first inpatient chemo stay. Overall I would say things went about as well as we could have hoped for (i.e. she wasn't sick). And all Eila was interested in was seeing and snuggling Sloan! Saturday, August 29, 2015. Daddy and Annikka came after lunch so we could all spend the afternoon together. We did art projects together,. And watching another movie (under warmed blankets). It was a good day overall, Eila's only complaint was that sh...

Howe on Juan de Fuca: November 2013
http://juandefucahowe.blogspot.com/2013_11_01_archive.html
Monday, November 25, 2013. This was Eila's second night without her bosch (aka pacifier)! We are very excited to be making this transition and continually reminding Eila what a big girl she is now. If all goes well for a week, she gets to go to the toy store and pick out a special "good-bye bosch" toy. Fingers crossed that it will be that easy (it sure wasn't with the first kid. Tuesday, November 19, 2013. Monday, November 11, 2013. We were very surprised at how quickly she fell asleep; I'm not sure if t...

As we sit around the living room, I'm struck by just how much the girls have grown - we're playing actual boardgames now!

Howe on Juan de Fuca: Fun in Ann Arbor
http://juandefucahowe.blogspot.com/2015/07/fun-in-ann-arbor.html
Thursday, July 30, 2015. Fun in Ann Arbor. Eila and I had a couple of days to spend in Ann Arbor making sure everything was still okay before flying home. We were very fortunate that friends from Corvallis had moved to Ann Arbor and let us stay at their house for these waiting days. Eila doesn't quite have the activity level she normally has, but we did get out and do some fun things. On Tuesday we went to the Hands On Museum. And got to explore all kinds of things. And went out for dinner. Day Ten at UM.
