Downtown Eugene: The Past vs. The "Too Small" Argument
http://downtowneugene.blogspot.com/2008/01/past-vs-too-small-argument.html
Saturday, January 12, 2008. The Past vs. The "Too Small" Argument. When nurturing community, we generally try to:. 1 preserve and enhance what we have. 2 encourage community-based initiatives to solve community problems. 3 recover the bits we've lost. Let's talk about #3 for a moment. There's a good standard argument, useful in launching this kind project. When we launched the non-profit Tango Center. The criticism was made that Eugene was "too small" for a full-time partner dance venue. One City Council...

Downtown Eugene: The Weekday Market
http://downtowneugene.blogspot.com/2008/12/for-past-few-months-tango-center-at-194.html
Thursday, December 04, 2008. For the past few months, The Tango Center. At 194 West Broadway, has hosted a diverse market-dance-art-cafe event known as The Weekday Market. It's every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, from 10am - 4pm, with extended hours during the First Friday Artwalk. And this Friday's Downtown Holiday Party. Was inspired by the building it is in. A non-profit, all-ages, community dance-hall and exhibition space. Posted by Greg Bryant. Eugene, Oregon, United States. View my complete profile.

Downtown Eugene: Balance
http://downtowneugene.blogspot.com/2013/05/balance.html
Tuesday, May 28, 2013. Everyone appreciates the effort and care put into downtown by its new workers, commercial and non-profit, during the recent boom. Some lovely and touching stuff is emerging. So I shouldn't be critical. This is an important and positive story. But, although it's early days still, there is. A kind of imbalance, which I think could correct itself, if enough people talk about it, and if enough people support others who want to fix. So, let's "make balance happen"! It's high time to "ma...

Eugenertainment: February 2008
http://eugenertainment.blogspot.com/2008_02_01_archive.html
The arts and entertainment blog with the stupid name. Wednesday, February 27, 2008. Sam Bond's Garage Bluegrass Jam. I don't know how you spent your Tuesday evening, but personally I spent it in a bad part of town, drinking beer from a mason jar and listening to a bastard form of country music played by a group of old-timers and crazies. Were there hipsters pathetically misinformed of their own coolness shouting rebel yells at annoying intervals? Was there a washboard player? Monday, February 25, 2008.

Eugenertainment: July 2008
http://eugenertainment.blogspot.com/2008_07_01_archive.html
The arts and entertainment blog with the stupid name. Friday, July 18, 2008. The Classical and the Trivial. Been a little busy this week and haven't been updating a few of the events I attended. I've been pumping up my social life a tad this summer and as such will probably be doing more updates. The median age of the audience was old enough to collect social security, so I felt a tad out of place, but at least I didn't fall asleep during the performance as I noticed a couple of the old timers do. Teams ...

The Eugene Scene: January 2006
http://theeugenescene.blogspot.com/2006_01_01_archive.html
The Eugene Scene is a information spot of what is going on in the great city of Eugene and surrounding areas! Monday, January 30, 2006. G Love raps and rocks at the McDonald. G Love and Special Sauce. 9 pm Fri. 1/27. McDonald Theatre. $17.50 adv/$20dos. It must be tough being popular young rock stars. But, more than anything, this is laid-back music. It's music you could play, say, on a California beach after plunging down the faces of giant waves with your rock star buddies. Friday, January 27, 2006.

The arts and entertainment blog with the stupid name. Thursday, November 6, 2008. Election Night Pub Crawl. Since I've now had a few days to decompress, I figured I would let anyone passing this site know what I did on that big ol' election shindig we all had the other day. Given that all of my election experiences have been done alone and indoors (given Oregon's mail-in voting system, I didn't even have to leave the building to cast a ballot), I decided I would spend election night out and about. My fri...

Eugenertainment: Wine 'n' Dine
http://eugenertainment.blogspot.com/2008/07/wine-n-dine.html
The arts and entertainment blog with the stupid name. Friday, July 11, 2008. Just for something to write about, here are my thoughts on some of the restaurants here in town. I'm only listing places I've been to in the last few months and only ones I feel like writing about. Broken down by cuisine. Enjoy:. Pegasus Pizza: Decent college pizza and good beer. I've had great pizza there and I've had bad pizza there, but most of it lands in the "pretty good" zone. McMenamins (any of them, there are three in to...
