Sunday, April 8, 2012. Giants Offseason and Roster Review. When the 2011 season ended for the San Francisco Giants, I had a list of things I wanted them to do before Opening Day 2012. Seeing as how today is Opening Day (for the Giants, anyway), this seems like the right time to look back at what they did and didn't do to reshape their roster into one that will still pitch extremely well, but also hit a little. Don't do anything stupid. Lock up Cain with a contract extension. Don't do anything stupid.

Of the Atlanta Braves won the National League Comeback Player of the Year award, beating out San Francisco's Dave Dravecky. Smith put up very good numbers after having his career derailed by cocaine abuse. Dravecky pitched in only two games, but did come back from cancer in his pitching arm.
