The alternative to the toll road was no road. After repeated attempts over several decades to get the state to build a road connecting Adams Avenue to I-84, Governor Leavitt finally suggested that the only way the road would ever be built would be for a private company to build it. Shortly thereafter several local business people formed a corporation and began plans to build the road. August 29, 2000 Ground breaking ceremony. June 27, 2001 Adams Avenue Parkway opened for business.

By using Adams Avenue Parkway to drive in and out of the south side of Ogden (Ogden, Washington Terrace, and South Ogden), you can miss much of the traffic congestion on Riverdale Road and Highway 89. Adams Avenue Parkway is located in the southeast corner of Washington Terrace. Turn south at the intersection of Adams Avenue Parkway and Washington Blvd (about 500 E 5100 S). Adams Avenue Parkway takes you past Ogden Regional Medical Center and connects to I-84 and South Weber Drive. Eastbound I-84 connects with Highway 89 at the mouth of Weber Canyon. Westbound I-84 connects with Riverdale Road and merges with northbound I-15. Get on I-84 just west of Target, and then take Exit 85. Click here to see map.
