Permit the Frog: Blue! No—yellow!
http://permit-the-frog.blogspot.com/2009/10/blue-noyellow.html
Documenting the renovation of a 1932 Virginia home by two first-time renovators. Thursday, October 8, 2009. We painted our house! Suddenly, a few weeks ago, we decided to paint the house this fall. It was less a matter of forming the plan than being seized by it. We realized that, if the weather held, we’d have just enough free days to pull it off before the cold arrives, and there’s nothing we like better than a ridiculous time crunch. So whee! Off we went with our five gallons of paint. 8221; and the g...

Permit the Frog: February 2009

Documenting the renovation of a 1932 Virginia home by two first-time renovators. Wednesday, February 4, 2009. On the list it only reads "putty screw holes in the attic hatch" but what it really means is "put a quality paint on all of the window trim, doors, and baseboards in the living room and dining room." And to that I unofficially added "scrape old paint off all the glass" and Erika added "scrape old paint off the floors around the baseboards.". Holy cow, what a difference! Permit the Frog: November 2008

Documenting the renovation of a 1932 Virginia home by two first-time renovators. Wednesday, November 26, 2008. Monday, November 24, 2008. Big day, Sunday. Epic. We set the 2x4 first, and glued it instead of nailing or screwing it. The reason was simple: we couldn't be 100% sure that we weren't going to nail right into one of our heating tubes under the floor. I really like that the above pic shows all the parts of the threshold, including the blocky shims.). Okay, threshold's in place.what's next! Back h...

Permit the Frog: A frivolous invention
http://permit-the-frog.blogspot.com/2009/01/frivolous-invention.html
Documenting the renovation of a 1932 Virginia home by two first-time renovators. Thursday, January 29, 2009. One can live forever with no toilet-paper holder, but we are striving to be a civilized household. Though we deemed “heat system” and “ceilings” more urgent projects, we still gave toilet-paper holder a place on our big list of things to do. (This is notwithstanding John’s claim that the back of the toilet made a fine toilet-paper holder.). You won't please everyone with its placement. Subscribe t...
