To date I have recorded one composition, a light classical piano piece called. That I wrote before starting my degree course. It is 15 minutes long and is in three parts (or “movements”). The pianist is Fiona Chua. Part 1: Exuberance (3:25). This first part is my celebration, my excitement, of writing simple melodies and having them played. It starts with a very simple melody with lots of bounce, and the whole part reflects the buzz I got composing it. Listen to 30 second sample. Old MacDonald had a Farm.

Classical music: The Birth of a New Star? Classical music is not about hours of Meaningful Music. It is about pleasant music for everyday listening, interspersed with the occasional moment of utter elation. To experience this it is usually necessary to completely discard your boundaries and go to as many live concerts as possible. I experienced one such moment a few days ago. I composed music in my mind from when I was a teenager but it is only recently that I felt compelled to commit my musical ideas to paper, and become a full-time composer.
