Sister Creek Pottery: the function of bookcases
http://sistercreekpottery.blogspot.com/2011/10/function-of-bookcases.html
The occasional musings of an overly-enthusiastic-senior potter who recently found her way to the potters wheel. Tuesday, October 18, 2011. The function of bookcases. We had the ceiling and one wall in the library painted. The painter came on Monday, said he could do the work that day. He had to patch and paint the ceiling and one wall. He finished on Tuesday at 4 pm. We are expecting friends over at 6:30! To get to the wall we needed to empty 2 bookcases so we could move them away from the wall. All my b...

Sister Creek Pottery: In the meantime...
http://sistercreekpottery.blogspot.com/2012/04/in-meantime.html
The occasional musings of an overly-enthusiastic-senior potter who recently found her way to the potters wheel. Sunday, April 29, 2012. In the meantime, since my last post, our son Ben married his sweetheart Callie. It was a delightful, unique wedding just like they are. The invitations gave the first clue that this was not a traditional wedding. Open the envelope and you have a cloth pocket. Pull the invitation out of the cloth pocket and you see the announcement of a "picnic wedding". What a great event.

The occasional musings of an overly-enthusiastic-senior potter who recently found her way to the potters wheel. Wednesday, August 24, 2011. I've had so many wonderful ceramic adventures this year: NCECA. In March; Ron Philbeck's. Workshop featuring Doug Fintch. In April; walking Austin's "Art of the Pot" in May; a great time with Tony Clennell. It is still way too hot around here- 57 days OVER 100° already- and 110° predicted for Saturday. And, as announced earlier, we have a new grand baby! Over that fo...

Sister Creek Pottery: bits and pieces
http://sistercreekpottery.blogspot.com/2011/01/bits-and-pieces.html
The occasional musings of an overly-enthusiastic-senior potter who recently found her way to the potters wheel. Sunday, January 30, 2011. During the holidays I treated myself to two new DVDs: Nan Rothwell's Throwing demonstrations and Sandi Pierantozzi's Slab and Texture work. Both are very inspiring- they each do such wonderful work and so different! Last year I make a jug from a video that Nan Rothwell demonstrated on her web page. The jug (she made a pitcher, I made an amphora) was one of the more...

Sister Creek Pottery: the old kitchen
http://sistercreekpottery.blogspot.com/2011/08/old-kitchen.html
The occasional musings of an overly-enthusiastic-senior potter who recently found her way to the potters wheel. Thursday, August 25, 2011. From the day we first toured the house we knew we wanted/needed to re-do it! On the wall separating the kitchen and the dining room. Nice window over the sink. Our refrigerator did not fit in the space allotted for it so we had to rip out the "kitchen office" area and put the refrigerator there. Another nice window on the end wall. Our A/C was not cooling yesterday af...

Sister Creek Pottery: baby steps
http://sistercreekpottery.blogspot.com/2011/02/baby-steps.html
The occasional musings of an overly-enthusiastic-senior potter who recently found her way to the potters wheel. Wednesday, February 02, 2011. Thanks for the comments and encouragement! I'm enjoying dipping my toe into the studio these days even if only for little bits of time. The videos help me over the hump of returning to the studio and facing the "what do I do now" questions! Posted by Sister Creek Potter. Where to find the time! Lucky it missed you, it was looking like a crazy storm last I heard.

Sister Creek Pottery: the good grandmother
http://sistercreekpottery.blogspot.com/2011/06/good-grandmother.html
The occasional musings of an overly-enthusiastic-senior potter who recently found her way to the potters wheel. Thursday, June 30, 2011. NOT a studio day today- planning that for tomorrow! This afternoon/evening our grandchildren, Reed and Jack, came for a visit while their mom and dad had dinner out. So here is a picture of the good grandmother:. That's me behind the camera with a glass of wine in her other hand! Seriously, Jim is a grand grandfather! Fun watching 'all the boys" at play! Not a studio day.
