In 1986, Adopt-A-Child-Size began as a service activity with the Wayne County Regional Educational Service Agency (RESA). The agency was formed and incorporated in January, 1997 with the State of Michigan as a human service, non-profit organization. In February, 1997, Adopt-A-Child-Size and Support Services, Inc. Received tax-exempt status from the Internal Revenue Service. To date, over 15,000 children have received complete winter outfits. Adopt-A-Child-Size and Support Services, Inc.

The organization has served over 15,000 Michigan children and their families in Out Wayne and eastern Washtenaw counties by providing winter clothing, coats, and boots.
