Adopting Matters

Our understanding of Christianity cannot be better than our grasp of adoption." J.I. Packer. Tuesday, April 29, 2014. So, I'm a bit late, but it's still technically the Easter season! What does adoption have to do with Easter? Well in a very interesting passage tucked away at the very beginning of Romans, Paul connects the resurrection of Jesus to the idea of adoption. The letter begins with this greeting:. So when we are celebrating Easter, we are celebrating the triumphant declaration of Jesus Christ a...

Adopting Matters: Adoption Doesn't Mean Adoption

http://www.adoptingmatters.blogspot.com/2014/03/adoption-doesnt-mean-adoption.html

Our understanding of Christianity cannot be better than our grasp of adoption." J.I. Packer. Wednesday, March 5, 2014. Adoption Doesn't Mean Adoption. When we think of adoption today, we think of orphans. People often adopt in order to help a child, place them in a home, provide them with love, family, and a future. It's a wonderful, beautiful thing and I'm so glad that people adopt, and that it's a prominent thing in the church and in society. Talking primarily about the welfare of children. Well, it ma...

Our understanding of Christianity cannot be better than our grasp of adoption." J.I. Packer. Friday, April 11, 2014. How Does God Change Us? Right now on my sabbatical I'm working on drawing out some implications of adoption for the Christian life. Specifically, I'm trying to write about how God changes us through adoption. In 1936, the philosopher Etienne Gilson had some harsh words to say about Protestant theology:. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). There was an error in this gadget. Maybe the Sky Is...

Our understanding of Christianity cannot be better than our grasp of adoption." J.I. Packer. Tuesday, February 28, 2012. Maybe the Sky Is Not Falling After All. First off, many thanks to everyone who has emailed, called, encouraged, and prayed for us this week. After the dust has settled a bit from last week's news, we're feeling more hopeful, though nothing has changed as far as the suspension is concerned. I also preached on Sunday and incorporated into the sermon some of what we've been learning. ...

She wanted me to bring all of her art supplies when I come back later today because she seems to think she will be able to sit up and draw…. She had on board a few meds. I was thankful she said this part in Russian because we were standing next to the family waiting to check in. “No, honey that’s not right! 8221; was all I could reply and indicated we would talk more later. Tuesday, December 30, 2014. Happy New Year from Casa Chaos! Okay, okay. I concede defeat. After receiving a number of complaints as to the brevity of our 2013 update, I have vowed to do better this year. Those of you who liked the short notes – my apologies. Those of you who asked for more – be careful what you wish for :-). We finally made it to the famous Zingerman's deli and store and had a lovely time checking out the displays at the Natural History Museum. Best of all, of course, was the chance ...
