Thursday, 9 April 2015. Today was a warm bright sunny day. We decided to have a day trip up to Kielder Reservoir. Other than a couple of Chiffchaff’s and up to eight Tree Pipit’s there was not much sign of spring/summer visitors. It was great to find a pair of Crossbill’s however, which are amongst my favorite birds. Nearby there were over 30 Siskin and a feeding party of five Long-tailed Tits. Tuesday, 26 August 2014. We had a lovely time in Whitby this year. I was a bit surprised by the connection between Whitby and Dracula. Apparently, Dracula's author found some of his inspiration for the book after staying in Whitby in 1890. There are even some descriptions of Whitby in the book, which I can't remember. Whitby-Scarborough must be fantastic at Halloween time. Certainly it was in this summer as you can see in the pictures. Alnwick Gardens - Hello Harry Potter! WWT Washington - New Years Day.

Saturday, 30 March 2013. Amsterdam in the Netherlands is truly a gorgeous city to visit. The Amsterdammers love their canal houses of which many were built in the 17th century and their pedal bikes, of which approx 60% of residents and visitors use daily. The city is easily accessible with trams, canal boats, metros, buses and over 1200 bridges crossing the cities canals. The residents are very friendly and most speak English. Sunday, 22 September 2013. Our visit to Chillingham Castle was unforgettable. The castle was originally a monastery. In the late 12th century. In 1298, King Edward I. Stayed at the castle on his way to Scotland to battle a Scottish army led by William Wallace. First, we stopped at the cafe, where we could. Saturday, 13 September 2014. We have been talking for some time, about visiting Cragside, which was the first house in the world to be lit using hydroelectric power. The landscape surrounding Cragside is lush and green, and rich in colour and wildlife. Exploring the country house is like going back in time, and is lavishly decorated.
