Shade and Sweet Water: January 2013
http://devanpeterson.blogspot.com/2013_01_01_archive.html
Shade and Sweet Water. Thursday, January 24, 2013. 50 Book Challenge 2013. I'm not actually challenging myself to shoot for 50 this year. I'm happy with finally reaching that goal last year and while I still plan to read all year, I won't be racing myself and I want to spend more time focusing on writing again. Still, I'll continue keeping a log of what I've read so I can go back and look at my reading trends for the year next year and am happy to discuss any of the reads I share. Posted by Evan Peterson.

Shade and Sweet Water: October 2012
http://devanpeterson.blogspot.com/2012_10_01_archive.html
Shade and Sweet Water. Wednesday, October 31, 2012. 50 Book Challenge 42. A Fistful Of Charms (Hollows, book #4). This is one of the two supernatural series I turn to when I want the feel of Anita Blake without the 300 pages of necrophiliac and/or bestiality porn (the other is the Mercy Thompson series of books by Patricia Briggs). Still, another good porn-free replacement for Anita Blake. Posted by Evan Peterson. Friday, October 26, 2012. I Sabotaged Myself This Month. . . This post is simply ranting an...

Shade and Sweet Water: November 2012
http://devanpeterson.blogspot.com/2012_11_01_archive.html
Shade and Sweet Water. Wednesday, November 28, 2012. 50 Book Challenge #45. The Final Winter: an Apocalypse Novel. By Iain Rob Wright. OK, so the opening epigraph contained a Bible verse that completely. Set off my Fight Club Curse, so before even the first word of the novel was read, I figured out pretty much all of the salient points. That said, for once that didn't hamper my enjoyment all that much. With this book, imagine Stephen King's The Mist. While the characters aren't all the most deep. If this...

Shade and Sweet Water: Love Just the Same?
http://devanpeterson.blogspot.com/2013/02/love-just-same.html
Shade and Sweet Water. Monday, February 11, 2013. Love Just the Same? So, as I mentioned in my earlier comment in another's thread, we went forward with pursuing adoption for one of our foster children. That didn't pan out for reasons beyond this conversation, but Sara is still a part of my life today and I love her as my daughter now as I did then (friends here with big memories will remember me writing about her on her 21st birthday last April). With months of doubt growing in front of me. With rat...

Shade and Sweet Water: Orange is the New Mad Sons of Breaking Dexter
http://devanpeterson.blogspot.com/2013/09/orange-is-new-mad-sons-of-breaking.html
Shade and Sweet Water. Monday, September 16, 2013. Orange is the New Mad Sons of Breaking Dexter. I've finally given in to peer pressure and started watching *Orange Is The New Black.* My *Lost* project may or may not be on hold a week due to this. Anyway. Posted by Evan Peterson. I have to disagree. I get that the show is trying to show how there are no heroes or anti-heroes (or villains? Weird I thought Id get some sort of notice if you replied. Anyway, I dont think that chalking it up to good people d...

http://devanpeterson.blogspot.com/2013/03/getting-lost-s01e01-pilot-part-1-and-2.html
Shade and Sweet Water. Saturday, March 23, 2013. Getting Lost: S01E01&02: Pilot part 1 and 2. The first few episodes are going to be a lot more about rehashing the plot we see and observations about character traits and what I see setting up, as I predict comparative examination to come as things progress and get revealed, rather than me talk too much about something before it is revealed in the show. Hurley has a throw-away line that really intrigued me, and opened up a brand new line of questioning for...

http://devanpeterson.blogspot.com/2013/02/vita-tres-got-me-looking-at-my.html
Shade and Sweet Water. Tuesday, February 05, 2013. Got me looking at my astrological charts for the first time in forever. It's interesting how well I actually see myself represented here, including within some of the predictions it has/had for me later in life. (Also, Vita, yours was a nice and interesting read as well). Sun and Moon in Gemini. You read voraciously and you can live on your intelligence. People may criticize you by saying that you are inconsistent and cannot be relied upon. Fortunate...

Shade and Sweet Water: Holes
http://devanpeterson.blogspot.com/2013/09/holes.html
Shade and Sweet Water. Monday, September 16, 2013. I've been feeling down more often lately. As my kids grow older, I become more and more aware of my own advancing age, of how I'm nowhere even close to where I wanted to be in life by this time, of how certain situations make any possibility of significantly changing that next to impossible at this time and that "at this time" will last at least until I'm 50. Posted by Evan Peterson. Yeah, thats about how I feel too. But the kids make it all worthwhi...
