August geht es los, 11:00 Uhr ab Hamburg. Dank 9 Stunden Zeitunterschiedes, kommen wir schon am gleichen Tag um 15:30 Uhr in Vancouver an. Ich werde am 13.September zurückfliegen, Jan-Erik wird noch einige Tage länger in Vancouver bleiben. Jan-Eriks Motorrad hat auch schon einen Platz in einem Flugzeug.

Die XT500 ist die Mutter aller Enduros. Gebaut wurde sie von 1976-1988. Zweimal (1979 1980) hat sie die legendäre Rallye Paris-Dakar gewonnen. 2012 bin ich mit diesem Motorrad von der Ostküste zur Westküste, quer durch die USA gefahren. Da unsere Weiterfahrt über die Berge, laut unserem Reisführer, die schönste in ganz Nordamerika sein soll, werden wir Skagway nur bei gutem Wetter verlassen. Es könnte also sein, dass wir, trotz der vielen Touristen in der Stadt, noch einen Tag in Skagway bleiben werden. Die Ersten auf dem Schiff, so leer sollte es aber nicht bleiben. Die Strecke von heute sind wir teilweise schon einmal vor ca. 3 Wochen gefahren. Wenn man jetzt in die Wälder schaut, sieht man schon deutlich den Herbst kommen. Die Blätter leuchten in allen Farben. Dies ist uns auf der Hinfahrt nicht aufgefallen. Ab morgen fahren wir zwei Bummeletappen, da die Fahrt an einem Tag bis nach Stewart und Hyder zu weit ist.
