There's nothing too unusual or earth-shattering about that, except that I was already a mother. He was also caring and devoted to our kids. I was pretty sure there was no way I could live up to that, but I gave it everything I had, not to replace Jeff, but to be there for the kids as Jeff would have been - to be Mom and Dad in the best sense that I could.
