Adventures of Team K. A blog about life, birth, adoption, and two bad dogs. Posted by: Jim and Stephanie. March 13, 2015. Praise God for excellent MRI results. The imaging showed no abnormalities. The neurologist was very encouraged based on those results that he will make a full recovery. Levi has awakened off and on throughout the day. The nurse is impressed at how cooperative he is with the tubes. He shakes his head “yes and no” and even smiles. Thanks again for continued prayers! March 12, 2015.

Adventures of Team K. A blog about life, birth, adoption, and two bad dogs. Posted by: Jim and Stephanie. December 25, 2015. Finding Hope in 2015. Although the lyrics are a call to trust and follow, I know my heart was like Peter’s in that moment, unsure of whether I could truly put my trust in Him, whatever the outcome. I’m thankful He reached down and pulled me out (maybe kicking and dragging a little) and allowed us to cling to that Hope. Here is a little window into this past year:.

He is weaned to just Keppra to help control the seizures, and he was changed over to oral medication rather than IV. However, this AM he’s thrown up the last two doses. So, they restarted his IV. The magic of beginnings. February 16, 2016. February 16, 2016. It’s magical – A new beginning, a chapter turned, a new blog. For the past seven years, I’ve been a working mom. Juggling three kids and a spouse’s work schedule alongside mine has been a true growing experience. It’s been one of the hardest things I’ve done in life. Some days I’ve done it really well. Other days I’ve gotten an F. Thanks for coming alongside me as I start something new. A chunk of glass. March 20, 2016 at 1:51 am. You are com...

January 3, 2017. January 3, 2017. I went to the gym as usual on January 2. Same time, same plan. Only I was greeted with an extra 100 or so people working out alongside me. Every single machine was taken, the classes were packed and frankly, it was an awful experience. People walking around with their ear buds in, oblivious to where they were going and who they were bumping into. The Spirit of God has made me and the breath of the Almighty gives me life. This year I’m adding Isaiah 49:16, 23 to Job.

November 2, 2016. I am an introvert. Some doubt that’s true when they meet me. I can put on a great extrovert show – chalk it up to years of being a missionary kid. However, for all the days I’m out with people, I need just as many or more days at home with myself. Today I’ve filled my morning with yoga and calm quiet at home. The fall air is finally crisp and cool. The sun is shining and I have my green tea and figs as I hunker down to journal, read and meditate. 8217; the serpent whispered. ‘...The sna...

Do you feel forgotten? January 11, 2017. We’ve had incredibly strong winds in Colorado Springs over the past few days. I mean, blow over semis on the interstate type wind. It’s been relentless and formidable. Honestly I haven’t wanted to venture out too much as it just keeps coming. Things have calmed down this afternoon and the sun is out. It’s calm relative to what we’ve just been through. Parenthood often feels like a big windstorm. We work so hard to do the right thing, be the right parent, teach...

Getting an “F” in parenting. October 31, 2016. October 31, 2016. Everysingle.year. October kicks my butt. I love October. Two of my three babies were born in this month. The weather turns cool (well, it’s supposed to, this year has been quite the exception with 80 degree days! The leaves start to turn amazing hues of orange, yellow and red. School is mostly in swing (though I still can’t understand the elementary school multiple days off each week! For those of you with high nurture, high structure kids,...

October 9, 2016. It’s been a whirlwind weekend. Five sport’s games, one birthday, and high school Homecoming. For those who have not yet stepped their toe into high school, get ready. Homecoming week is no joke and if your daughter is on Student Council, it’s a solid week of late nights, early mornings and your entire weekend – GONE! This weekend Caroline had her first high school Homecoming. All week she’s been working hours with her Student Council group to prepare. It was so fun to watch...Mamas of li...

Christmas Traditions Reworked – 2016. December 18, 2016. December 18, 2016. It’s been a full Advent season for our family. Caroline and I spent Thanksgiving in San Diego for soccer – delaying some of our usual traditions. I’ve accepted that Thanksgiving, at least for the next two years, will look very different than in the past because of high school soccer. As our kids grow older, I’ve had to work on leaving behind rituals and instead, create new traditions. Instead of one tree, we chopped down two tree...

The wild and harrowing adventures of a Maine Coon kitten! Wednesday, May 20, 2009. Surveying my domain on a nice afternoon. Now that the weather has warmed, birdies are flying all over the place. Those winged creatures require constant attention to guard my property. But watching birdies can be a chore. And sometimes all that fluttering about makes me drowsy. Wish those birdies would fly a little bit closer so I can show them who is boss. Tuesday, April 21, 2009. And a FAST POUNCE! Sunday, April 12, 2009.
Adventures of Tate
Apr 24, 2011. Each Year since Tate was born we've taken a family picture on Easter. This year there was an extra face in the photo. Henry fit nicely into our family tradition. I must say I like this picture much better than last year's picture (I was 6 or 7 months pregnant). I'm not sure who's more crazy about who. Tate and Henry get along so much better than I ever dreamed they would. Links to this post. Dec 28, 2010. Links to this post. Sep 18, 2010. A little brotherly love. Links to this post. I got t...

Thursday, March 13, 2008. This was a conversation I had with one of my 8th graders this morning. Cody: Mrs. Wood, I don't know what you're doing, but you're creating some sort of superfreak readers in this school. Me: Cody, what are you talking about? C: All these kids, they've never read a day in their life, and you see them all walking around school with their head in a book. Me: Are you serious? C: Yeah, your kids love to read. Thank you Cody for making my year. Tuesday, March 11, 2008. How's that for...

Some occasional ramblings of a try-hard blogger. Tuesday, November 18, 2008. So Long, Farewell , to you and you and you. Thought I should make it official and say I am going to have a temporary break from blogging. Considering its been over a month since I posted last any way I think its probably fitting. I mean does anyone read it anyway? Apart from my mum and dad and sister ( they dont even count! I shall still be reading my usual blogs and probably comment if I can stop my fingers from whining also.

The War of a Wounded Warrior Wife
Friday, May 1, 2015. Red Tape Diary Entry #4 (Benches and Urinals). Chaz and I avoid the VA. Why? Chaz uses a few medical supplies every single day. Due to the frequency of use, they wear out and need to be replaced. We do not ask for items to be replaced unless they actually need to be replaced. It truly bothers me that we have to go through OT to get these items and when we do we have to have to endure the Spanish Inquisition. Why so many questions? I take very good care of his shower benches. They...

Adventures of Team Kingdom. Sunday, July 20, 2008. Bruce Mines - July 18-20, 08. Weekend (similar in feeling to that of a summer camp) spent at the youth rally at Bruce Mines was awesome, sunburns excluded. The weekend long event was draining both physically and spiritually which made us rely on God even more. It was awesome to see some of the teens from Powason. Adventures of Team Smith. Sunday, August 16, 2015. On Thursday, I took Flash to his agility graduation. It was delayed a week since there was a storm last Thursday night. He ran the entire course off lease and listened to me like a champ. I had fun and was very proud of him. Below is a video of our final agility run. It was really hot over the weekend, so we were not able to play outside so we played cards and played with the dogs inside. Posted by Team Smith. Thursday, August 13, 2015. We drove north th...

Adventures of Team W. Adventures of a woman who woke one day to discover that she is the stereotype of a suburban mom. Acceptance and Inclusion, It’s Only Human. When we first became aware that autism is a part of our lives, I welcomed Autism Awareness Day. I wanted other people outside of our family to “get it”. But a funny thing happened: Nothing. One day a year of proclaiming support and understanding doesn’t actually make up for a year’s worth of not getting it. And please do not get me started on in...
