Adventures with Sher: Adventures in My Own Backyard

http://www.adventureswithsher.blogspot.com/2014/06/adventures-in-my-ownd-backyard.html

Saturday, June 7, 2014. Adventures in My Own Backyard. You don't have to travel far to have an adventure. Today, I visited my local recycling center, better known as CARTM, Community Action Recycling Team of Manzanita, just 2 miles from my cottage on the Oregon Coast. What a fun time I had rummaging through all the junk in the outdoor dumping site, lots of good stuff for making art. The check out counter. These two characters greeted me at the entrance. I grew up in a family who repeatedly said this!

Wednesday, October 1, 2014. Discovering Chicago was a gratifying experience, thanks to my friend and hostess, Diane Bruno. She introduced the city first by inviting me to take a Chicago River. Later, walking down Michigan Avenue I saw some amazing public art: Picasso's huge steel bull in front of an equally large rust-colored steel. Diane dwarfed in front of the Miro. Chicago is a quintessential city of pubic sculpture. The Bean ”. Juame Plensa's magnificent head. And the Cloud Gate, better known as.

Monday, November 24, 2014. Walking the San Miguel de Allende Streets. As I meander daily down the cobblestone streets of my beautiful adopted city of San Miguel de Allende, I look down a lot, not wanting to trip or fall on the rough cobblestones- -not wanting to be one more member of the "Fallen Women's Club" of SMA. I've already been down that road when falling while dancing at a fiesta last February, celebrating the publication of my first novel. Links to this post. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). We took ...

Tuesday, March 25, 2014. In Residence in San Miguel de Allende, MEXICO 2013-2014a. The consequence of this mishap is that my writing and keyboard abilities have been greatly affected. As I perused the many photos I've taken this year, most with my iPhone, I realized I could share much of this past six months with all of you via a visual adventure. So hang on- -here we go! Viewing our beautiful Peroquia at night. Baking in my San Miguel kitchen. THE three kinks come by horseback- not camels. WE RAISED ENO...

Saturday, July 5, 2014. NEW ADVENTURES WITH THE KAYAK GALS. Had two great paddles two weeks ago with my group of women friends. We call ourselves the “Kayak Gals.”. Each Thursday a different person plans the weekly paddle. Still recuperating from my wrist break last February, I haven’t been able to join them until now. So, I finally made my “maiden voyage” on Lost Lake, Mt. Hood. Links to this post. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). SEATTLE BOOK TOUR PLUS A DAY ON ORCAS ISLAND. As I meander daily down the cobb...

Rethinking Holiday Expectations - Sher Davidson

http://sherdavidson.com/rethinking-holiday-expectations

December 21, 2014. Living, Loving and Laughing. And I paraphrase: be careful about expectations. When one expects a certain outcome,he or she is laying the groundwork for disappointment, whereas if we don’t have any pre-conceived notions about what is going to happen, all will be a surprise and maybe a pleasant one! So, in closing, I just want to say what a delight that we have a dear family to visit, a home in two places, Oregon and Mexico, wonderful friends in both places, and plenty to eat! Mexico his...

Let me know in comments, what you think and share your reads with me, too. I just finished Anthony Doerr’s All the Light We Cannot See. I cannot recommend this book more. Travel Stimulates My Muses. October 8, 2014. A toast to Prague, Czech Republic. City of spires and castles. And Art Nouveau Architecture. I learned a great deal from Edita, our Prague guide about Czeck Jews during WWII and what happened to those who escaped to Sweden. This was great information for my new book. Our guides, Vadim and Bonita shared their wonderful knowledge of the Art Nouveau period inspired by Alphonse Mucha on a walking tour through this beautiful city. Speak Your Mind Cancel reply.
