Thursday, 19 April 2007. Northanger Abbey by Jane Austen. So, yes, I'm in a bit of an accidental Austen phase at the moment. But I have my next book lined up and it isn't Austen. Years ago when studying Mansfield Park for A Level (and hating it) a friend (who hated it even more) said that Northanger Abbey was brilliant, pretty different to the rest and way worth a read. So I finally got round to it. And indeed it was great! So funny and ridiculous and silly! Sunday, 25 March 2007. The book takes the form...

Books, books, more books: February 2007

http://adventuringjen-lotsofbooks.blogspot.com/2007_02_01_archive.html

Sunday, 25 February 2007. The Kingdom of the Golden Dragon by Isabel Allende. Having finished this while on holiday, it has taken me a while to get round to blogging it. Kingdom of the Golden Dragon is the second in a trilogy for early teens. Having read the first, The City of Beasts, a few years ago and thoroughly enjoyed it, I was glad to find this in the library after a few searches. I just have to decide whether to read the third one now. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Books, books, more books.

Friday, 29 December 2006. Oryx and Crake by Margaret Atwood. I have at last come to realise that I have a strange love/hate relationship with Margaret Atwood's books. I think I've only read one that I particularly enjoyed and a number that I have actively not enjoyed and yet I just keep going back and reading more of them! I think the problem is that she writes well but I don't enjoy what she writes. So I'm not saying they are bad books as such. Just not for me. Would I advise anyone to read it? I've bee...

The Adventures of Jen: September 2009

http://adventuringjen-theadventures.blogspot.com/2009_09_01_archive.html

The Adventures of Jen. My Adventures. The Adventures of me. :) Mostly now the adventures of Baby-boo. Wednesday, September 30, 2009. Husbink and the Sunglasses. Once upon a time, Husbink had some sunglasses. Then one of the arms fell off so he got a second pair while keeping the first pair with a taped on arm in case of emergencies. A short while later, the second pair started to disintegrate. I think this time it was that the lenses kept popping out. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Verse of the week. Here's...

The Adventures of Jen. My Adventures. The Adventures of me. :) Mostly now the adventures of Baby-boo. Tuesday, April 20, 2010. As you may know or imagine, a mother's life is full of firsts. Some good - first smile, first roll, first step, first word. Some bad - first cold, first injection, first projectile poo. And in our household, you won't be surprised to hear that there are a number of silly firsts to be celebrated too. Take the Sunday evening just gone. Labels: baby baby baby. Monday, April 05, 2010.

The Adventures of Jen: Adventures in Absence

The Adventures of Jen. My Adventures. The Adventures of me. :) Mostly now the adventures of Baby-boo. Monday, April 05, 2010. Last week, I left Baby-boo. Twice! On Tuesday afternoon, Husbink had some time. Off revision and had a play with Baby-boo then a walk while I had my hair cut. :) Yay! Then on Wednesday night I got Baby-boo to bed just after 7pm and went out to home group as they were having a Passover meal. It was very interesting - following the traditional Passover celebration then a lovely ...

The Adventures of Jen. My Adventures. The Adventures of me. :) Mostly now the adventures of Baby-boo. Thursday, August 27, 2009. I was horrid to the Oxfam man. So, I'm a little slow moving but seriously, not that slow! I opened the inner door while they were still fiddling with the knock, perhaps considering a fourth attempt. To which I replied, "I don't know, I don't really care and I'm so much not in the mood." He'd left our front yard before I shut the door. It started with "My name is Mrs Blah, I'm a...

So after my whinge about a certain company's poor customer service, I felt it only fair to write about the excellent customer service I've received today, only this time I'll name the company (actually, companies but I shall mostly be praising one.). The Adventures of Jen: Pregnancy Hair

The Adventures of Jen. My Adventures. The Adventures of me. :) Mostly now the adventures of Baby-boo. Thursday, March 04, 2010. Pregnancy hair was one of the nicest things about pregnancy. So full, so soft, so much not needing washing ever. It kindly lasts a few months after the birth.the not needing washing bit being particularly helpful! And now my hair is GRUMPY. and wants washing more than once a day. Which is doesn't get. I'm not getting enough sleep yet for a shower every day. Labels: baby baby baby.

Adventuring into Motherhood | Conquering motherhood one diaper at a time

Conquering motherhood one diaper at a time. I might have given in, but with good reason! January 20, 2015. I was always “that” mother. The one who swore that her child would never, and I mean ever ever play with a cell phone. I always said that I would never be the absent minded mom who so selfishly handed my kid my phone in public just to keep him quiet. No way. That is lazy. It is basically neglect. I was never going to do that. Well, never say never. Before you report me to the authorities, hear me out.

Living life, seeking God and trying to be his instruments in this world. "He is no fool who gives up what he cannot keep to gain what he cannot lose." - Jim Elliot. Friday, July 31, 2015. Throw in there a health scare that nearly resulted in a medivac to Australia and a logistical nightmare I am still thanking God about and also still wondering what is wrong with me…. Where do I even begin? ENGL 1313 was a learning experience. It broadened my thinking about cemeteries, graves, and death. I learned how to write a profile essay and I got to work in a group for a bigger project. There were parts of it that were hard, but overall it was a good experience. PS Sorry this post is so shambly. I just needed to vent a little bit, get it out, and then feel better. So, reader, sorry you had to suffer through that, but I feel better now.
