Countdown to Pinot Days…. May 25th, 2011. We’ll be at Pinot Days. In just a few weeks! Will we see you there? If so, we’ll likely be setup right next to the legendary Alma Rosa, which just so happens to come after us in the alphabetical ordering of exhibitors! Drop on by for a taste! We’ll be pouring everything we’ve made from ’07 through ’09! February 26th, 2011. It’s still a few months out, but we’ve just received confirmation that we’ll be able to pour at this year’s Pinot Days. November 6th, 2010.

Aeshna is the scientific name of a genus of dragonflies from the family Aeshnidae. In North America, they are known as mosaic darners, and are some of the largest dragonflies in North America. We make wines that we'd like to enjoy — wines that balance tannin, acids, alcohol, and fruit forwardness, and are a delight to the senses. Aeshna Wines was founded by the husband and wife team of Brian Emmett and Marni Zampa in 2007.

2007 Pinot Noir, Split Rock, Sonoma Coast. The color on our inaugural vintage is a deep intense purple color with some ultra-violet hues. There are aromas of red raspberries, cherry cola, some light spice and pepper, as well as some cedar. It's very smooth and delicate overall, with acid and tannins that will also allow some cellaring. Alcohol content: 14.1%. Fruit: 100% whole berry. Aging: 11 months in French oak, 33% new (Francois Freres, Medium Toast). Enjoy: Now through 2015. Release date: March 2010.
