Izumicon 2012, Saturday - The Invisible Plan

Izumicon 2012, Saturday - The Invisible Plan. November 10th, 2012. 03:55 pm - Izumicon 2012, Saturday. Saturday: another day of supporting my local nerds. I wasn't even in the door before I spotted a Korra. I'm surprised the flash didn't reduce Alucard. S for my sister. Famous Akira Toriyama character. And the Minecraft guy. Wandered the Dealer's Room among several former students whom I knew. Small state. After ten thousand years, she's free. Izumicon has a very lax policy. I took this picture. Or maybe...

All attempts at defining physical "perfection" are suspect. - The Invisible Plan

All attempts at defining physical "perfection" are suspect. - The Invisible Plan. December 23rd, 2012. 06:27 pm - All attempts at defining physical "perfection" are suspect. In 1912 and 1913, having no sense of foresight about declaring a scientifically ideal specimen of humanity, Cornell University touted the 24-year-old, 5' 7" (1.7m), 171lb. (77.56kg), 35-30-40, illness-resistant, blue-eyed blonde Elsie Scheel as the "perfect woman.". But there is much more to be learned here. She was a well-traveled u...

Dragon Effect - The Invisible Plan

Dragon Effect - The Invisible Plan. November 25th, 2012. 04:47 pm - Dragon Effect. In the span of these past two weeks, I have played through Dragon Age II two times on two Hawkes: the rogue Tori and the mage Avani ( of course. I played a little of the first game after Tori's run to get some background lore, but I quickly put it down to return to run through the sequel with Avani. I think I'm in love with Bioware, to such an extent as one can love a game-producing company.

Haven't left. - The Invisible Plan
http://jackscarab.livejournal.com/662209.html
Haven't left. - The Invisible Plan. October 16th, 2012. 10:35 pm - Haven't left. So what have I been up to? Twitter and Tumblr, mostly. I've checked here often, but haven't written much. So. I wrote some things. On my revamped website. I started up subbing again. I watched some debates on TV. Frankly I feel like I haven't been angry or interesting enough lately to merit long LJ posts, even about the legitimately angrifying things Romney said in tonight's debate.

Tales from IRC: We are bad because our stories are bad. - The Invisible Plan

Tales from IRC: We are bad because our stories are bad. - The Invisible Plan. March 5th, 2013. 10:20 pm - Tales from IRC: We are bad because our stories are bad. That discussion of Homer. Actually meshes very well with the end of the discussion about Sam Witwicky. Yeah, it's kind of sad when you think about it. One of my favorite authors is Kurt Vonnegut. It takes a lot more than the points raised in that video to make me sad. I find it illuminating, like a marsh light over a floating corpse. Flip a few ...

Stay away from the Internet, Sonic. Trust me on this. - The Invisible Plan

Stay away from the Internet, Sonic. Trust me on this. - The Invisible Plan. November 3rd, 2012. 04:18 pm - Stay away from the Internet, Sonic. Trust me on this. Cute movie, great premise. But as a writer, I have a good many Questions. Questions about the world presented in the film. Which naturally contain spoilers here and there. Are the characters aware of the existence of consoles? Unless. are no consoles in this universe? If so, are the characters aware of the Internet? Can they travel to either?

Izumicon 2012, Friday - The Invisible Plan
http://jackscarab.livejournal.com/662851.html
Izumicon 2012, Friday - The Invisible Plan. November 9th, 2012. 07:47 pm - Izumicon 2012, Friday. Yep, I'm still going to this thing, because I enjoy supporting the semi-local nerd community. It also helps to get me out of the house for more than work. To drive home how small the con is, I arrived at 10:30 shortly before they let in all the pre-registration people who were waiting. All four of us. Inside there was a Halo guy. Two of the Commanders Shepard. I think I missed the joke. And I will refer to h...

Izumicon 2012, Sunday - The Invisible Plan

Izumicon 2012, Sunday - The Invisible Plan. November 11th, 2012. 03:44 pm - Izumicon 2012, Sunday. Sunday is the dead day at most cons, and one as comfortably small as Izumicon is no different. The most active hall cosplayers were mostly. Among them was a DJ with a tiny turntable. Who attracted the attention of some famous musical robots. There's something just a little bit creepy about the single eye visible under that mask. His legend began in the 12th century! The simultaneous highlight and lowlight w...
