A Flying Leap

Wednesday, July 18, 2012. The Dress On Stage. Sunday arrived, way too early. We got up at 5:30 because the child's competition started at 8:00 am. Tatiana had people she didn't know asking her, "Is this THE dress? Everyone was very complimentary. Thanks to John Mulhall (his daughter won 3rd in the Age 7 and under category) for these competition pictures. The cape needs some blue or to be cut down- there's too much white in the back. But the child's form is very good. Never use a geometric design if there...

A Flying Leap: The Skirt

http://aflyingleapbyms.blogspot.com/2012/07/skirt.html

Tuesday, July 3, 2012. Luckily for me the skirt went to together fairly easily. My measurements based on the old dress were correct. I even remembered to test the fusible interfacing for the skirt stiffener, which went together just fine. It was a bit awkward sewing the panels together since I could bend the skirt and it is large, but it really wasn't too hard. Now it's back to that PIA bodice. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). A Flying Leap: June 2012

http://aflyingleapbyms.blogspot.com/2012_06_01_archive.html

Friday, June 29, 2012. I'm feeling really depressed about this dress right now. I finished up the embroidery on all the diamonds so I started the sleeve designs. I realized while doing the first one that I didn't like it. My daughter came into my sewing room and said, "That's cool! So I made more of the sleeve designs because she liked them so much. Creating the sleeve appliques. Sleeve embroidery for the blue sleeve. The edges appear frayed but I can trim them more after I put Fray Check on the back.

A Flying Leap: The Work Progresses

http://aflyingleapbyms.blogspot.com/2012/06/work-progresses.html

Thursday, June 21, 2012. Fit for Real People" has lots of pictures which was helpful when my pattern mock-up didn't fit correctly. "Perfectly Fitted" teaches you, step by step, how to create a muslin sloper without a pattern. I should've read this before I tried to do it on my own! Left side of the body as well as front and. Back Since I was working with a fidgety child, I only did her top and some of the measurements may have not been exact. Time for the fitting on the happy child! One of the things I l...
