Fell Finder: March 2013

Walking Britain's wild, high and remote places. Monday, 18 March 2013. I had been looking at buying a pair of crampons to take with me on winter hikes, but I had foreseen a few problems. Firstly crampons are expensive, even the cheapest good looking pair are retailing for around £80! They are marked left and right so you can't get mixed up, and they are easy to get on even on the hill. Right, lets go hiking. In deep snow they are a comfort preventing slipping and helping make a quicker pace. They made ea...

A classic Peak District walk taking in some of the most recognisable and dramatic landscapes in the region. Ideal for a Sunday stroll to blow away those cobwebs. The Christmas holidays were almost over, and that meant it was time to get out into the hills to get some air prior to returning to the stresses and normality of the working week. We took the right hand gap i...

Fell Finder: November 2014
http://fell-finder.blogspot.com/2014_11_01_archive.html
Walking Britain's wild, high and remote places. Sunday, 16 November 2014. A rough day on Helvellyn. Plus the rain and wind predicted was not set to hit that area of the country until late afternoon. On finally arriving into Patterdale it was light rain, I made my way to the Patterdale Hotel where I had decided to start my walk from, I purchased some refreshment, then made my way towards the foot of Helvellyn. Here outside of the hotel just after arrival. Links to this post. Height: 485 metres (1,591 ft).
