The Watsons' first trip to Africa. African Adventure - Our last day. We were scheduled to leave Port Elizabeth for home at 4:00pm. We had so much fun at the game park the day before, we decided to go to another one before we left the country. We went to Sea View Game Park. As we drove in on the dirt road we were greeted by this magnificent giraffe. And just in case we didn't get our fill the day before.there was another big guy. Here is a beautiful peacock posing for us. We had a most wonderful vacation.

The Watsons' first trip to Africa. Christmas Eve - Kibogora Hospital. On Christmas Eve I went to the obstetrics ward of the hospital. I was moved by the sight of young mothers with their babies. Some babies were a week or more old because the mother had to be recovered enough for her trip home, which could mean walking many many miles. It is my highest honor to share these pictures with you. The Watsons' first trip to Africa. We had originally planned to go with Carol and Frank to Burundi after Christmas. Before Christmas, we talked with some visiting missionaries who had been to visit Dianne Fossey’s compound in northern Rwanda. They had gone on a trek up the volcanoes and had seen the mountain gorillas. Since there is unrest in Burundi anyway, we decided we would try and see the mountain gorillas instead. The Watsons' first trip to Africa. Kibogora - Christmas Day. This is Carol’s and Frank’s Christmas Tree. We started out Christmas day with Frank reading the Christmas story. After exchanging gifts and we went to church. The church was completely packed. Chuck and I chose to sit outside and look in. We cooked one of the turkeys. Here is Frank using a good surgical technique so that the turkey will fit in the pot. We all enjoyed our Christmas dinner. We had a very nice Christmas. Chuck and Nancy in Europe.
