Hadley Adventures: March 2014
http://hadleyadventures.blogspot.com/2014_03_01_archive.html
March 3, 2014. Well, folks, I'm here to tell you that sometimes. rarely, but sometimes.karma gives you a little hand in parenting. Last week there was a box of cookies sitting on my dresser. These weren't just any cookies. These were Cutler's brownie mint cookies. Food of the Gods. This isn't something that makes a regular appearance at our house. (Most likely because it doesn't make it that far from the drive-up window! By "public" I mean Ms. Els. Ms Els, being the sneaky little trickster that she is, t...

Hadley Adventures: At My Age
http://hadleyadventures.blogspot.com/2015/01/at-my-age.html
January 1, 2015. First off, Happy New Year readers. Thanks to all 3 of you for sticking with me :). The marching forward of time has had me reflecting on the fact that this year I will turn 37. That's getting pretty cozy with 40. which is pretty darn close to my mid-life point. The other day The Hubs said to me, "You know, I really should start thinking about what my mid-life crisis is going to involve." Ha ha. Put that on the To-Do List babe. I can't wait to see what 2015 brings. Who are these people?

Hadley Adventures: August 2014
http://hadleyadventures.blogspot.com/2014_08_01_archive.html
August 13, 2014. Well, friends, I'm old. I've known it for a while now, but it hadn't really hit home until I started my new job as a Target employee. Like I told my team lead the other night, "I sweat so much working here that if I don't lose at least 15 pounds I'm gonna be mad". Sweat Where did that come from? When I yell, "Can we fix it? I've decided it's my "Mom-ness" that is the difference. I'm used to picking up after people. To going back to a place I've already cleaned and having to clean...The y...

Hadley Adventures: November 2014
http://hadleyadventures.blogspot.com/2014_11_01_archive.html
November 20, 2014. A day or so ago I had a realization of epic proportions. If I could freeze my children in time. Right now, I would. We have reached a state of independence that is just precious to me. Ms. Els is 11 now, as of last week, and she has started babysitting for us for an hour here and there. Finally, freedom to run and grab a gallon of milk or snag a library book without taking my entire entourage with me. At an IMAX field trip with Ms. Els. JB putting away the clean silverware. And it terr...

Hadley Adventures: Sister Messages
http://hadleyadventures.blogspot.com/2014/12/sister-messages.html
December 18, 2014. One of my most favorite things about modern technology is the ability it gives us to stay in touch with loved ones in such an easy manner. When I was growing up my mom's family was all out of state. I remember timing phone calls (it cost 10 cents a minute after all) and writing a lot of letters as I became a teenager. But our interactions were definitely not on a daily basis. Take this interaction from this week via text:. Sister reply: Want I should. Me: Yep. I own it. Me: I think you...

Hadley Adventures: October 2014
http://hadleyadventures.blogspot.com/2014_10_01_archive.html
October 29, 2014. Boy, what a difference a month makes. My last post had a very different theme than this one will have. Read on. So, I gave my notice at Target last night. Some time during the week of November 10th will be my last day. This wasn't a spur of the moment decision. It has become more apparent recently that the "honeymoon" phase of me working had ended and it was more stress than it was worth to my family. There are several reasons I decided to be done. In no particular order:. Steve, as our...

Hadley Adventures: February 2014
http://hadleyadventures.blogspot.com/2014_02_01_archive.html
February 11, 2014. I don't profess to know everything, but one thing I do know is that you should never. I repeat NEVER. give a big black Sharpie permanent marker to an 8 year-old girl and expect there to be no problems. See, my sweet Cadence had a little mishap the other day and I've been giggling about it ever since. Since I've been working on breaking my children of the habit of interupting I held up one finger - NO, not THAT finger - as the sign to "wait just a minute". Ha ha ha ha. Oh, man. Her ...

Hadley Adventures: September 2014
http://hadleyadventures.blogspot.com/2014_09_01_archive.html
September 26, 2014. We've all done it. We've ALL been THAT shopper who picks up something and then a few aisles over decides they don't want it, and rather than walking it back to where you found it, you just ditch it somewhere. after covertly checking that no one is watching you. But I never imagined that the poor people working in retail had to watch all those things happen multiple times each shift. NOT my actual co-worker. My co-worker is a girl, silly. Pah-lease. Huge eye roll! I definitely will not...

Hadley Adventures: April 2014
http://hadleyadventures.blogspot.com/2014_04_01_archive.html
April 28, 2014. It Heats Things Up. It's really no secret that I'm a huge fan of the comedian Brian Regan. Best date of the year.every year! He does this bit about fridge shopping and how "This model is $900 and it keeps things cold. This model is $1200 and. it keeps things cold." and so on. I had a glorious conversation with Ms. Els the other day that reminded me of that bit. It brought me great joy. Please see below photo and try not to be overly jealous of my "vintage" hipness:. E: Ya, but it's old.
