The Golden Stool is spiritually powerful and it holds the history of the Akan people. It enshrines and protects the soul of the Akan nation. [2]. The Golden Stool has super natural powers and signifies a code of moral behavior for the Asante people. It has never touched the ground and has its own throne to sit on (pictured left). It has also never been blackened.

African Art and Leadership. The Mossi people from Burkina Fasso create figures carved from wood for the Nakomse, their spiritual leaders. They can be adorned with jewelry or cloth as well. These figures are often put into dynamic poses. These poses are starkly different from others figures who are normally static. The idea behind the movement is that these figures are performing dances and rituals for the year-end sacrifice. [1]. Chief's figures display at annual chief's festival, Na Poosum, (.

It's always rewarding as a teacher to see students reconsider prior beliefs and conceptions of what they thought they knew after processing new information. I was also impressed last week with more students providing each other with helpfully critical comments on the blog posts. Keep that up! Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).
