It is well | Africanresearcherblog's Blog

https://africanresearcherblog.wordpress.com/2010/06/06/it-is well

The llife of an African researcher. IT IS WELL is one of my favourite phrases when it is really tough to plod on… Staying positive is good for the soul and keeps you cool even when you are grasping at straws. What else should I do. Stop and cry? That will not solve the situation. This journey is not for the faint hearted or the semi-optimist. You need to motivate yourself and maintain a positive attitude. IT IS WELL. As much as it might not work for you? I remember a friend recounted her experiences of h...

The last lap home | Africanresearcherblog's Blog

https://africanresearcherblog.wordpress.com/2012/03/06/the-last-lap-home

The llife of an African researcher. The last lap home. The last lap for any athletic race is the most physically demanding. This is no different from the last lap for a research degree. From my experience and that of my cohorts, it is the point where you might lose touch with sanity if you do not get a grip of yourself. Yes I left home once with my cardigan turned inside out–I was alerted by an 8-year-old. Yes! I am running the last lap home! Not thinking about the work I have to do? The last lap home.

The road not taken | Africanresearcherblog's Blog

https://africanresearcherblog.wordpress.com/2010/03/05/the-road-not-taken

The llife of an African researcher. The road not taken. I never knew that Robert Frost was speaking to me through his poems till now. I am stuck with getting an appropriate title for my paper…that is not the only issue. The issue is. To right or not to write. On the positive side…it is good to write because eventually is will take me out of the ‘credit crunch’. However, the sore eyes and the migraine I bear in trying to decipher the appropriate title makes it easy to opt for. The road not taken. On March...

Tick tock! Tick tock! | Africanresearcherblog's Blog

https://africanresearcherblog.wordpress.com/2010/04/13/tick-tock-tick-tock

The llife of an African researcher. Although I did promise to write about Mending Wall, I have decided to give Robert Frost a break this month. Don’t worry I will get back to it later. 8216;A day at a time ‘ is what has kept me going through this maze of another research degree. You will be amazed how much you can get done by taking each minute at a time as each deadline looms closer. This journey doesn’t work well when you procrastinatesome learned friends would say ‘but it works! Enter your comment here.

Minh's Research Journal. Who’se life is it anyways. Losing my religion →. August 15, 2012. I’m in the final push to having the thesis resubmitted with most of my revisions done and checked internally. But my feelings about this process are ‘not for general consumption’. I can’t get no revolution | Minh's Research Journal

https://mqtresearch.wordpress.com/2012/09/03/i-cant-get-no-revolution

Minh's Research Journal. How long is a piece of string? I can’t get no revolution. September 3, 2012. This post is prompted by Liz, who pointed me to a new handbook of social media use commisioned by VITAE, an umbrella organisation whose purpose is to sheppard researchers through their career. I was one of the over 100 participants who was interviewed about my social media use during my Phd. What new recent innovations have there been? Is the revolution over? YOLO | Minh's Research Journal

https://mqtresearch.wordpress.com/2012/09/14/yolo

Minh's Research Journal. I can’t get no revolution. These foolish games →. September 14, 2012. I’m getting close to the end now (the real end) of my Phd. And at a time like this, I’m left wondering ‘what next? It is all very daunting. I also seem to be at a low point in my life (in terms of self-concept). I don’t feel as connected to nature, to my friends, to my self as much as I used to. Am I experiencing an existential crisis? Or maybe it’s a mid-life crisis? This entry was posted in Uncategorized.
