I am fortunate in that one of my colleagues here at. Chelsea and I talked about the jacket a bit, but it was all her vision. She and I looked at a number of archival images from my family scrapbooks. Chelsea felt it was important to use a photo, since that would reinforce that this is a true story. The photo is of my mother and father, taken a year before they were married. They are at the wedding of a friend/colleague from the. The photo was shot by a man named Ron Bailey, who was a. They create so much...

Entertaining, crafting, homekeeping and living in Baltimore City and Rehoboth Beach. Hosted by lifestyle guru Donna Beth Joy Shapiro. Honor Thy Father And Thy Mother. Today is 40 years since what happened to my father - and the beginning of what happened next (including what happened to my mother), some of it still happening - all of it The Thing That Cannot Be Discussed. More than twenty years ago, as we were ratifying a new friendship over drinks, my pal Michael Hainey, then a fellow member of Spy. Magazine’s junior varsity and a recent arrival from Chicago, told me about his father. Bob Hainey died abruptly in 1970, when Michael was only six years old. The elder Hainey was a newspaper man, an editor at the Sun-Times. I’d love to, like, do a real investigation of it some day.

The future of Miami Beach vis-à-vis climate change. The British Invasion bands of the 1960s. The black players who integrated the NBA in the 1950s. The Whisky à Go Go. Yet I wa...
