Documenting its seasons in photos and words
A Garden in the Mountains: July 2008
http://agardeninthemountains.blogspot.com/2008_07_01_archive.html
A Garden in the Mountains. Documenting its seasons in photos and words. Thursday, 31 July 2008. As I was talking to the garden's owner this morning I was slightly distracted by the cheeping of the tiny birds I had been missing for a number of weeks. They were back, darting amongst the camellias, elusive as ever. There are magical preparations underway, deep within the earth. Tuesday, 22 July 2008. I moved even more slowly than usual around the garden. I didn't think about too much. Sunday, 13 July 2008.
A Garden in the Mountains: January 2009
http://agardeninthemountains.blogspot.com/2009_01_01_archive.html
A Garden in the Mountains. Documenting its seasons in photos and words. Monday, 26 January 2009. The twenty eighth day. I walked, in the hot silence, through the garden. It felt so very good to be back after such a long absence. The garden is green. Green everywhere. Except for blue hydrangeas there seemed to very little of any other colour. . I walked in and out of dappled shade provided by the tall trees. It felt almost dream like. Perhaps that was the heat. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).
A Garden in the Mountains: The twenty ninth day
http://agardeninthemountains.blogspot.com/2009/04/twenty-ninth-day.html
A Garden in the Mountains. Documenting its seasons in photos and words. Thursday, 30 April 2009. The twenty ninth day. I had been to the garden several times seeking to close the circle of the year and the seasons. It had never felt right though to write the last words about this place. The owner wasn't there though. Neither was Tiny. Their absence was noticeable - no welcoming bark from Tiny, no quiet talk with the owner. Thank you to Cherrydell's owner - Don LeQuesne - whose generosity in allowing m...
A Garden in the Mountains: October 2008
http://agardeninthemountains.blogspot.com/2008_10_01_archive.html
A Garden in the Mountains. Documenting its seasons in photos and words. Friday, 24 October 2008. The twenty sixth day. A vibrant spring day in the garden today. The colours of new leaf and grass are intensely green, or in some cases, red and copper. Tiny rolls blissfully in the grass or reclines gracefully contemplating her lot. Or is she mourning? Tuesday, 7 October 2008. The twenty fifth day. The brief frenzy of fantastically hued flowers is beginning, almost imperceptibly,to slow again, not this time ...
A Garden in the Mountains: August 2008
http://agardeninthemountains.blogspot.com/2008_08_01_archive.html
A Garden in the Mountains. Documenting its seasons in photos and words. Tuesday, 26 August 2008. It was an intimation of spring in the garden. The sky was blue and the day warm. The breeze stirred the blackboy fronds into an abstract painting. A sprinkler was turned on. I remembered being a child, running through the water spray, laughing in delight. Thursday, 21 August 2008. Tiny rolled on the ground joyfully. Time ebbed away as I leant on a sun warmed wall and watched the bees gathering their pollen.

eleanorfromthecommentbox: April 2011
http://eleanorfromthecommentbox.blogspot.com/2011_04_01_archive.html
An old school blog. Wednesday, April 6, 2011. I chose a few of the highlights of my first year or two blogging. Whether you were here then or whether you're new to my blog, I send you my heartfelt thanks for such a wonderful time. My Shawshank Redemption story. Remember the Nanny Next Door. I just heard that Ninny is leaving soon and I shall miss her terribly. You know where she's going? Remember A Cache of Jewels. Here's the first in the series. And Wedding Cake Island. I was prolific back then. Wow.

http://eleanorfromthecommentbox.blogspot.com/2012/12/nostalgia.html
An old school blog. Friday, December 21, 2012. Hello dear reader,. I can hear the echo of my greeting, this blog has been that empty for that long. In fact I am greeting myself, returning to the magical place where for several years I wrote words in an attempt to connect fantasy with reality. Welcome back Eleanor. But this blog, much like Howl's Moving Castle. Is my only true portal to the fantastic lands in which I am happiest. I can, however, give you a metaphorical tour of the place. Follow me. The ne...

eleanorfromthecommentbox: Distraction or inspiration?
http://eleanorfromthecommentbox.blogspot.com/2011/12/distraction-or-inspiration.html
An old school blog. Sunday, December 18, 2011. Working as a screenwriter is hard. Imagine, if you will, inventing a location, populating it with believable and fascinating characters, and having it all fit into 110 pages which will capture what a story might look like once it's turned into a VISUAL form by a huge group of strangers called a Director, Producer, Cinematographer, Art Designer etc etc etc. My head is about to explode and the deadline is the end of next week. The best part of screenwriting?

eleanorfromthecommentbox: June 2011
http://eleanorfromthecommentbox.blogspot.com/2011_06_01_archive.html
An old school blog. Monday, June 6, 2011. I read this post. Featuring Edith Drake, and I watched the little clip in which she introduces her husband Ervin. I adore the way she pauses for a moment before saying his name, she could be on stage with that introduction. As Ervin Drake mentioned the songs he's composed my jaw dropped. You can pass someone on the street and you just don't know who they might be. I love this story. Friday, June 3, 2011. Even Though I'm A Woman. Last week. Thanks Kim! It all star...

eleanorfromthecommentbox: In which I return to my roots
http://eleanorfromthecommentbox.blogspot.com/2011/11/in-which-i-return-to-my-roots.html
An old school blog. Monday, November 7, 2011. In which I return to my roots. No, this is not a post about having the roots of my hair touched up so as to cover up the grey. Although I did go to the hairdresser last week, and I must admit that it really cheered me up. In this post I return to my commentbox roots. Have you ever had that niggling suspicion that disagreeing with a blogger in her commentbox is being mean? Do you think it's better not to write a comment at all in that case? So what is the etiq...

An old school blog. Saturday, December 22, 2012. Hello Julia, Mary, kmkat and CL. There you are in my commentboxes, making me smile. My goodness, your presence takes me back to those years of fun and games we had - sharing poems, witticisms, sketches, photographs and a treasured, knitted scarf. I would never have had the courage to do all of these things if not for the years of joy I experienced while blogging. In the words of Diana Wynne Jones:. Here is the trailer for the film:. Hello dear reader,.

eleanorfromthecommentbox: When a man loves a woman
http://eleanorfromthecommentbox.blogspot.com/2011/11/when-man-loves-woman.html
An old school blog. Tuesday, November 1, 2011. When a man loves a woman. Here's my favourite trailer for "Drive" - I highly recommend this film. It's a superb character study, a very romantic love story, and you can just close your eyes during the couple of violent episodes (it's only make-believe you know). PS The trailers for "Drive" have been the subject of some controversy. Labels: Films I love. Saturday Night Fever, now that brings some memories back I can tell you. You made my day! A Garden In The Desert
May 10, 2014. It’s been a while since I posted last. Since then my daughter and I have transplanted approximately 100 tomato plants. Why you ask? Because we can. What on earth we’ll do with all the tomatoes, I do not know. Want any? Posted on 05.10.14 under From My Garden. I’m Back, Folks. February 15, 2014. BUT, I’m back. I had to cross fence my garden area and give a little less than half to our two geese. I couldn’t stand goose poop on my patio any longer so the sacrifice is so worth it. May 31, 2013.

A garden just outside Venice
A garden just outside Venice. A place where friends meet. Tuesday, February 25, 2014. Last Sunday, whilst escaping the crazy multitude of tourists visiting Venice for Carnival, I bumped into "the most beautiful bookshop in the world", according to its very modest sign. This little gem is only a few steps away from my "town house" but due to my "late in the evening/very early in the morning commuting" I never have time to wander around :-(. And to climb up to the top for a lovely view onto the canal.
