agback – The Blog of David

The Blog of David. My thoughts on things, large and small. All Students, All Schools. Every parent wants the best for their children. In Cincinnati Public Schools, we have numerous programs to facilitate different ways of learning. The goal of these programs should be to give the best education to each child. Unfortunately, choosing between these different methods of learning is often not the primary motivation for parents when choosing a school. We don’t serve all of our students equitably. As a parent,...

New drone – The Blog of David

https://agback.wordpress.com/2017/01/09/new-drone

The Blog of David. My thoughts on things, large and small. So, for Christmas this year I got a drone. A nice DJI Phantom 3. Its pretty awesome. It is much easier to fly, even with controls set to manual, than any of the little toy drones. The larger they are the more stable, and more dangerous. Getting fun shots of the kids on vacation and interesting landscapes will be pretty awesome this summer. By the time that rolls around I’m hoping to be pretty good at flying and more comfortable that I’m not g...

December 2016 – The Blog of David

https://agback.wordpress.com/2016/12

The Blog of David. My thoughts on things, large and small. Foreign Governments, Treason and Elections. I’ve avoided wading into this one until I’d had time to really think about it. As of this morning, we know that Russia was involved in hacking the DNC and RNC servers and only released information about the DNC. There is evidence that Putin personally was involved. There is some information indicating that the Trump campaign knew this was happening and said nothing. This information combined with the pr...

The myth of foreign terrorists – The Blog of David

https://agback.wordpress.com/2016/12/11/the-myth-of-foreign-terrorists

The Blog of David. My thoughts on things, large and small. The myth of foreign terrorists. There is a popular narrative in America that terrorism is the domain of non-citizens mass killing Americans. While there have been some incidents that have been covered endlessly in the media, there are other incidents that are conveniently left out of this narrative. Lets look at a sampling of the list since the 80s:. 2016 – OSU attack. 1 killed, 13 injured (foreign, terrorism related). 2016 – Pulse nightclub.

http://www.jengarrett.net/2009/09/mission-accomplished.html

Every day an adventure in mediocrity. Thursday, September 17. Well, what started on June 22. Is now over. I have read (and in some cases, re-read) all of Jane Austen's novels. I have to say, looking over the timeline of my reading and my feelings, Mansfield Park. Is the major dog in the bunch. It took me the longest to read, and I enjoyed it the least. Emma. Was better, but I'd place it just above Mansfield Park. Then Sense and Sensibility. Northanger Abbey, Persuasion. And Pride and Prejudice.

Every day an adventure in mediocrity. I've been writing since the third grade, when Mrs. Tillotson made us write a short story for a student writers' contest. I won. Every day an adventure in mediocrity. Wednesday, February 4. Will you marry me? The history of our nation has demonstrated that separate is seldom, if ever, equal,' the four justices who ruled in favor of gay marriage wrote in the advisory opinion. http://www.jengarrett.net/2014/09/my-love-for-british-mysteries-continues.html

Every day an adventure in mediocrity. Sunday, September 14. Insert poncy accent here. My love for British mysteries continues, although it doesn't seem necessary for the authors to actually be British, as long as their books are set somewhere in Great Britain, be it modern day or post-WWI. Either way works for me. I've really been enjoying the Ruth Galloway series from Elly Griffiths,. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). My (almost) daily ramblings of no import when. http://www.jengarrett.net/2015/04/dont-read-out-loud.html

Every day an adventure in mediocrity. Wednesday, April 29. Don't read out loud. I think we all know I love a good book, but what I apparently don't like is listening to a good book. As part of the Read Harder challenge. I had to finish an audiobook. I picked Jennifer Government. Every day an adventure in mediocrity. Tuesday, December 23. Read Hard 2: Read Harder. I think you all know I enjoy a good reading challenge. Read all of Jane Austen. Done Finally finish War and Peace. Check Read more nonfiction. Delightfully non-specific, but I'm pretty sure going from 0 to 8 nonfiction books read this year counts as winning. Every day an adventure in mediocrity. Tuesday, August 24. Okay, I may be a raging freak, but I enjoy receiving my Dewsletter. (Yeah, that's right, I get a newsletter from Mountain Dew. It's not just a tasty beverage, it's a way of life.) This week, however, was a different story. They wrote to announce the arrival of Baja Blast. Mountain Dew. (It's Mountain Dew blasted with tropical lime! Unthinkable. Baja Blast? Oh, god, please just make it end. I need a drink. Or this shirt. Oh, the horror. Iszi.

AG back in the DC | Serendipitous chronicles of my return to the homeland

AG back in the DC. Serendipitous chronicles of my return to the homeland. Making the most of it. July 7, 2011. Good morning from the midst of a muggy DC summer! The past two months have flown by without a chance for me to chronicle my adventures and while today promises to be no different, I wanted to share a quick snippet of what has been happening.
