Atomic Anxiety: May 2007
http://atomicanxiety.blogspot.com/2007_05_01_archive.html
Tuesday, May 29, 2007. Keep Your Distance: Marvel's Dark Tower. Dark Tower: The Gunslinger Born 1-4 (of 7) (PAD/Furth and Jae Lee/Richard Isanove). Being a writer and not an artist, I'm usually primarily concerned with the writing part of comics here at the Anxiety, but there are times when the art overpowers (in my mind) the writing. Dark Tower: The Gunslinger Born. Is one of those times. It is no surprise that the art of Jae Lee and Richard Isanove is gorgeous, but it makes Gunslinger Born. In other ha...

Atomic Anxiety: June 2007

Saturday, June 30, 2007. Legion of Jumping On. Supergirl and the Legion of Super-Heroes 31: "The Quest for Cosmic Boy: Prologue" (Bedard and Sharpe). Confession time. I've never read an issue of Legion of Super-Heroes. I've read of them, sure, but an actual issue of an actual LSH. Not that I can remember. But after my Supergirl post several months back where I accused DC of child exploitation. It was suggested I take a look at the Supergirl and the LSH. Since the cover of S&LSH 31. Atomic Anxiety: August 2007

Wednesday, August 29, 2007. Why Aren't You Reading X-Factor. X-Factor 22: "The Isolationist, Part 2: Natural Order" (PAD and Raimondi). Almost everyone who reads comics has that one book that they read and love and don't understand why everyone doesn't read it and love it. Is that book for me. There's nothing universe-changing about X-Factor. What impact does the Civil War have on mutants? What does being able to make duplicates of oneself really do to the original? Here's why I like X-Factor. 3) Interes...

Atomic Anxiety: Black Adam: The Joys of Sacrifice & Cannibalism
http://atomicanxiety.blogspot.com/2007/09/black-adam-joys-of-sacrifice.html
Tuesday, September 11, 2007. The Joys of Sacrifice and Cannibalism. Black Adam: The Dark Age 1 (of 6) (Tomasi and Mahnke). Black Adam was the most interesting of all the characters in 52. So it's a shame to see what's become of him. It's only gotten worse for Adam. After a brief dip into Countdown. Yeah, what part of any of that makes Adam appealing? Posted by Mark Bousquet. They must have been forced to face several uncomfortable issues as. Have a look at my weblog . samsung galaxy tab. In addition, Po ...

Saturday, September 29, 2007. Captain America and Deadpool Save the World. Cable and Deadpool 45: "Band of (Oh) Brothers" (Nicieza and Brown). This book deserves a more fitting end than it's getting. Is going to be canceled. Cable is already dead. Cable is going to get his own ongoing series. Deadpool, on the other hand, is very much alive. Deadpool will not be getting his own series. Instead, Deadpool has to finish out the string on the current Cable and Deadpool. Posted by Mark Bousquet. I hear this co...

Atomic Anxiety: March 2007

Saturday, March 31, 2007. Supergirl: DC and Child Exploitation. Supergirl (Kelly and Churchill). After her fun (if somewhat disconcerting) appearance in The Brave and the Bold 2. I'm not some kind of right wing prude, either. I don't need my heroes to be role models. I don't need them to always win. I don't mind sexuality in comics, and I don't even mind cheesecake comics. But when that cheesecake is a 15-17 year old girl, it's really kinda disturbing. Now, 16-year olds are going to wear skimpy clothes a...

Atomic Anxiety: April 2007

Wednesday, April 25, 2007. The Babs and Dick Retro-Annual. Nightwing Annual 2: "Hero's Journey" (Marc Andreyko and Joe Bennett). I've been meaning to review Nightwing. For a while because Marv Wolfman is doing a stellar job on the regular series, but Nightwing Annual 2. Is such a strong book that praising Wolfman will have to wait. Do yourself a favor and pick up Nightwing Annual 2. It's a great comic - Andreyko's writing hits all the right notes and Joe Bennett's pencils have never looked better. It's b...
