Thomas' R2D2: The UnDead
http://tomsr2.blogspot.com/2011/09/undead.html
Wednesday, September 14, 2011. Wow, it has been along time since I had anything to post. I'm working on R2's new foot motor holders and his foot shells. These are the very old Kelly Krider foot shells, I have been putting off working. On them due to the fact that they needed so much work. Even the center area for the ankle to mount did not come with the foot. I now have the center ankle area installed and now I'm filing the channel to fit. All of this stuff I've had put away for a longtime.

http://r5-d4.blogspot.com/2011_10_01_archive.html
This is my blog about building Astromech droids. Saturday, October 8, 2011. Worked on my antenna today. Today I tried to extend the range of the Vex antenna. Its really short like 12 inches long and means when I use the Vex transmitter I have to be atleast 12 feet away. Here is how I had it wired up. The vex is the yellow box with the short antenna I had wrapped around the frame. Posted by red UFO. Wednesday, October 5, 2011. Painting My Tinted Dome. This black trash can is turned out pretty cool! I need...

I have been collecting parts for to finish the domes. I recently got these HPs and radar eye in clear resin from Cal. I can't say enough about how awesome these parts are! Here is each HP part side by side for comparison. The old school HP is a little higher then the parts currently being run on and off. Victor's R2D...

red's Droids: Working on R2-Q5's dome
http://r5-d4.blogspot.com/2012/05/working-on-r2-q5s-dome.html
This is my blog about building Astromech droids. Thursday, May 31, 2012. Working on R2-Q5's dome. Here is my construction of the R2-Q5 dome in styrene. What seems like an easy project has turned into quite a challenge, read on. The inner and outer domes didn't quite fit so I had to cut the inner dome in half. I used Weld On 3 first to put the spider looking ring on. Glued the bottom but it didn't hold. What worpage might look like! This is what the other side looks like. After 1 year as a parts colle...

This is my blog about building Astromech droids. Sunday, June 26, 2011. CPU Armed Painted and Misc stuff. I haven't updated here in a while but I've been busy with some parts and waiting for things in the mail. I'm pretty much done painting the CPU arm and I have the servo attached! Painting the arm was much easier than I thought. Here's some of the basics so you can get an idea on how to paint yours. Power is restored back to the droid via the power board. I also installed a new Pittman motor so the...

http://r5-d4.blogspot.com/2015/04/r2-q5-center-foot-build.html
This is my blog about building Astromech droids. Thursday, April 30, 2015. R2-Q5 Center Foot Build. I can't believe its been about 3 years since I did lots of updates. But here's more work I've been doing. This center foot took me about 1 month to do from start (have all the parts) to painted and completed. It don't really take that long to assemble this foot. But it was 4 years ago that I constructed my other foot. Now with center foot and ankle attached I bolted on the U channel with the 4 stand offs a...

Thomas' R2D2: July 2009
http://tomsr2.blogspot.com/2009_07_01_archive.html
Wednesday, July 22, 2009. Here's a preview of how the side panel will work in R2's dome. My camera really did not do the screen justice, It looks allot better than this video. I'm placing red in between each picture so I don't stray to far away from the red in the real R2. It will be a interesting addition to my R2. Now just to get it mounted :o). Yep, That's wahat I said :o). The group has been invited to Mini MegaCon in Orlando Florida. It's on August 22nd and 23rd. Sunday, July 19, 2009. The Motherboa...
