Half Hulls and Models. HMS Indefatigable of 1795. Originally she was built in 1784 as a 64 gun ship-of-the-line. The model of her is after she'd been cut-down to a frigate in 1794, and as she may have looked under the command of Sir Edward Pellew, her most famous captain. The top-deck was removed among other things. She's also the main vessel from the popular, but fictitious Horatio Hornblower. Adventure series. Sometimes drawings of the vessel have survived; this may be particularly true for Navy ships, not so much for merchant vessels. It can be modeled either as a sloop of war or a 6th rate post ship. The HMS Laurel was a post ship and this is the name I picked for the model. The Age of Sail Maritime Alliance is a 501(c)3 not-for-profit historical and educational organization that was formed in 2008 to help organize and support 18th and early 19th century living history maritime events. The ASMA utilizes period boats and other maritime resources to help teach and portray this facet of our history, and a great emphasis is placed on nautical skills, practical seamanship and safety.
