Agile - it's people!: June 2014

http://agile-itspeople.blogspot.com/2014_06_01_archive.html

Agile - it's people! Software development by, for and with humans. Thursday, June 12, 2014. Agile - O, be some other name! Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet. Some leverage broader terms such as Organizational Development, others reframe the term to something like "Agility". I see the appeal of these approaches and use them myself when appropriate. However, I am often struck that we are just superficially engaging in word play. We are left with Juliet's quandary (Act 2 Scene 2 Line 43). What's in a name?

Agile - it's people! Software development by, for and with humans. Monday, January 27, 2014. Milwaukee Agile Meetup - Continuous Integration Panel Discussion Summary. Last week I had the pleasure of being on a panel discussion about Continuous Integration at the Milwaukee Agile Meetup. My fellow panelists were Carl Schrammel, Adam Black, Jason Duff, James Carpenter and Adam Johnson. Q: What does Continuous Integration mean to you? Is the practice, in. Of merging all developer working copies with a shared.

Agile - it's people! Software development by, for and with humans. Friday, May 9, 2014. Its like eating an apple. A bite at a time that gives you more info about the rest of the apple, is it juicy and sweet? But it is also taking that info and making decisions around the further eating of the apple. Should it be cut unto slices? Cooked in a pie? Can we cut out the bad part and keep the rest? Subscribe in a reader. Its like eating an apple. Si Alhir (Sinan Si Alhir). Agile - it's people!: Exercises in Agile Discipline

http://agile-itspeople.blogspot.com/2014/10/exercises-in-agile-discipline.html

Agile - it's people! Software development by, for and with humans. Monday, October 27, 2014. Exercises in Agile Discipline. In my previous post. I wrote about how one of the primary things lacking in teams floundering with their attempts at Agility is a lack of discipline. I also linked to articles on two particular disciplines: Timeboxing. Every timebox should be defined as the shortest amount of time in which to produce a meaningful result. By meaningful result we want to focus on:. Feedback loops are ...

Musings of an Agile Coach. Among other things, an agile Coach. Based in Chicago. Thinking great thoughts about being agile, and hearing great thoughts from others! Lower case 'a' because I believe in agility, not the dogma that Agile has become. Or insert your provocative title here! A tweet by my mentor @SAlhir. Alerted me to an article about possible dangers of mindfulness. I’d love to know what the Buddhist Geeks. But we are complex beings with many more levels, that is, levels on which we do. After a...

Musings of an Agile Coach. Monthly Archives: November 2014. Burndown Charts That Suck #1. Over the past year or so, I’ve collected some burndown charts that illustrate some team problems. I don’t want to tell tales on past clients, so no names will be revealed by me. And for that matter, people always mean to do their best, but sometimes it’s an emotional challenge to fix things (see the second to last paragraph below). Stories not broken down into small enough pieces. The second is a more emotional issu...

No Scope Creep | Agile Coach Jacque

https://agilecoachjacque.wordpress.com/2015/06/26/no-scope-creep

Musings of an Agile Coach. In an agile environment there is no such thing as “scope creep”. There are only better ideas. Amen, amen, amen. He hasn’t expanded on that tweet in a blog post (afaik); but really what more is there to be said? I suppose saying it gives those who don’t know what it means the opportunity to ask “what does that mean? 8221; which could then be the subject of a blog post. But this is just words. That tweet expresses such an important idea. This entry was posted in Quick Bites.

There Should Be Some Fun | Agile Coach Jacque

https://agilecoachjacque.wordpress.com/2015/06/16/there-should-be-some-fun

Musings of an Agile Coach. There Should Be Some Fun. We’re working with a slightly-distributed team. So after we do our standup, I often take a picture of the physical wall to share with the remote stakeholders. For this, I use the panorama mode of my phone. When team members are willing to have some fun together–as illustrated by this image–I think you’re on the right track to a solidly-performing team. This entry was posted in Quick Bites. Cohn is talking at a personal level, but the things he says make a lot of sense applied to teams, as well. April 17, 2014. I’m interest...

Musings of an Agile Coach. More on “The Curse of Allocation”. Recently, I re-discovered a post written by my friend Len Lagestee. Entitled “ The Curse of Allocation. Len lays out five important problems that arise from allocating people to multiple teams or projects:. Lack of team bonding and connection. Lack of ownership and accountability. Len’s post is a good one, and I encourage you to read it (and add his blog, Illustrated Agile. To your regular reads! Enforce the terms of allocation. August 12, 2013.

Lowering Risk | Agile Coach Jacque

https://agilecoachjacque.wordpress.com/2014/04/01/lowering-risk

Musings of an Agile Coach. I’ve written a post titled “ Lowering Risk Using Agile and Lean Methodologies. 8221; for the blog at Pathfinder Software. Here, I’ll post a summary, and invite you to link on over to Pathfinder’s blog for the full version. Leave a comment in either place. I’m interested in three kinds of risk that are mitigated by using agile and lean processes:. Building the wrong features or the wrong design (“UX”). This entry was posted in Quick Bites.
