Here’s a Christmas Carol that you might not be familiar with. I was first introduced to it in Louise Penny’s book How the Light Gets In. Now it’s one of my favorite songs of the season. Written in 1926 by Jesse Edgar Middleton, uses imagery more familiar in the early 20th century rather than the classic Nativity story.

The island is accessible only by boat and because visitors are strictly limited to protect the site, my family was privileged to tour the site with only the resident Haida watchman guide and the spirits of generations past.
