A Helping of Home

Wednesday, February 18, 2015. Happy Lent (Let's celebrate with a Giveaway! It's that time again. Lent. As with most things, motherhood has given me a new perspective on the season of Lent. I was reading this post yesterday. And could relate so well to it as a fellow Type A-er. Just as I often do as a mom, Lent has become a checklist for me. Do more this. Do less that. However, these little people are forever forcing me to put down my checklist and, heaven forbid. We focus on Him. Since day one, Damian ha...

A Helping of Home: Learning Curve

http://ahelpingofhome.blogspot.com/2015/02/learning-curve.html

Tuesday, February 10, 2015. God bless my boy. Gotta love him. Since day one, Damian has only done things of his own volition, after much thought and consideration. I'll be honest, I did not realize this at first. Lots of tears (mine included) could have been spared had I just accepted his timing over mine. To me some things seem so simple or fun that I couldn't fathom why he wouldn't even try. The slide. Why won't he go down the slide? It's pizza. Just try the yummy yummy pizza! He often hangs back and o...

A Helping of Home: 7 Thankful Takes

http://ahelpingofhome.blogspot.com/2014/11/7-thankful-takes.html

Friday, November 28, 2014. In the spirit of the now over Thanksgiving, and in an attempt to stem the tide of Christmas insanity just one more day, I bring you seven "quickish" takes of thanks. First I have to start with my husband. Next would have to be the kids. Keeping it in the family, I would have to say that having such a supportive extended family. Leaving the family, but not far from it, I'm thankful for my friends. On a lighter note, it's no secret that I love my city. Labels: 7 Quick Takes.

A Helping of Home: September 2014

http://ahelpingofhome.blogspot.com/2014_09_01_archive.html

Thursday, September 25, 2014. It's been a little quiet around here recently. On the blog that is. Life seems to be ever busier and busier. And as much as I hope God blesses us with more children eventually, there are days. Oh, there are days. On the bright side, things seem to be doing a little better around here. It's almost as if Survival Mode has moved to Survival Mode Plus. It's where you're still hanging on for dear life, but the house gets cleaned every so often. Sign Me. Up. Damian-isms vol. 3.

A Helping of Home: July 2014

http://ahelpingofhome.blogspot.com/2014_07_01_archive.html

Thursday, July 31, 2014. On Sunday morning I did something very, very, very dumb. I took off Clare's amber teething necklace. Why I ever did that is beyond me. I think my reasoning was something along the lines of "this doesn't really match your outfit." This is what vanity gets you. After a horrible day of tears and whining, and a even more horrible evening trying to get her to sleep, I realized she hadn't been wearing her necklace all day. I couldn't imagine that this was really. Causing her funk but, ...

Meet Me in the Holy City?

http://moxiewife.com/2014/09/meet-me-in-the-holy-city/.html

Meet Me in the Holy City? By Hallie @ Moxie Wife. September 17, 2014. Some of you know the story. Of how I fell head over heels in love the first time I drove into Charleston, SC. I love this city so much it’s hard to put into words. When Jen. And I first started scouting for a location for the next Edel Gathering. I secretly hoped we might be able to hold it here. We wanted to proceed cautiously, though, and make sure that we found just the right hotel in just the right city. And a quick (free! I took t...

Horses Helping Veterans Heal. What is Equine Facilitated Psychotherapy? For many people, working outside of a traditional office setting is more comfortable and less threatening. If someone has issues with trust or claustrophobia, as many victims of trauma do, being outside allows more room to move and has less of a sense of being confined. Want to know more about what we do?
