A Home Grown Journal

Thursday, May 14, 2015. Do I Need A Handwork Intervention? At a time of year when I should be concentrating my efforts on nothing but outside work, I looked around my quilt room this morning and counted no less than seven projects in progress. These aren't the dreaded UFOs (unfinished objects) we all have stashed away to be. Completed "someday," but rather things I am actively working on whenever I can sneak into my. Quilt room without anyone noticing I've temporarily disappeared. 5) Summer Tablecloth...

A Home Grown Journal: November 2014

http://ahomegrownjournal.blogspot.com/2014_11_01_archive.html

Friday, November 28, 2014. The Day After The Day Before. I need to hire a blog post editor.). Anyone else getting really irritated with all the Black Friday hype on the Internet and in local papers? It bugs me that it all exemplifies and amplifies the materialistic spend! Society we live in. I remember the times years ago when there were no sales on anything (! Time to give some assistance to Papa Pea who is bringing wood up to the wood box on the porch. Then to fill the two wood holding racks next t...

A Home Grown Journal: Perfect Weather for Sleeping - Not Good in May!

http://ahomegrownjournal.blogspot.com/2015/05/perfect-weather-for-sleeping-not-good.html

Tuesday, May 12, 2015. Perfect Weather for Sleeping - Not Good in May! We can safely say the forest fire danger of the past several weeks is gone. We've been having successive days of gray, gloomy skies and plenty of rain. Large puddles are standing everywhere outside. This morning the temperature was 37 degrees . . . with snowflakes falling. Good gardening weather does not come early to the north woods. This spring weather (ha! Well, anyway, this weather is good for something. Sleeping! It's so exceptio...

Friday, August 29, 2014. Everything You Ever Wanted to Know About . . . A couple of days ago (or maybe it was many days ago, because you know how time flies when you're spending quality time in the kitchen with boat loads of fresh produce . . . day after day after day), Kristina at Pioneer Woman at Heart. Asked me if I would explain how I planted, harvested and preserved my shell peas. However, putting these thoughts of my inadequacies aside, let's talk peas. Supposedly it's not absolutely necessary to p...

A Home Grown Journal: Having The Mumps

http://ahomegrownjournal.blogspot.com/2015/05/having-mumps.html

Saturday, May 9, 2015. I don't know what in the world made me think of it today, but when I was in eighth grade I had the mumps. It spread like wildfire through my class that year so I wasn't the only one to suffer. But, oh my, suffer I did. It's no wonder so many of us were out of school with the mumps. A person who contracts the virus is contagious for six days before symptoms start to show and nine days after they start. What are the symptoms? Made me one very unhappy camper. I'm sure there are thousa...

Tpals Place: Grand opening

http://tpalsplace.blogspot.com/2015/06/grand-opening.html

A little place in a little town where I will stumble along the path to being a little bit greener. Tuesday, June 23, 2015. Over the weekend I moved the chickens into the new coop. Three more nest boxes and lots more floor space make it very nice. The most time consuming part of getting it ready was the insulation, but much easier to do it while empty. I'm going to move over the roosting bars from the old coop yet. Otherwise I'm happy with it. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). A Home Grown Journal.

A Homegrown Family

Thursday, September 13, 2012. I decided to move for different reasons, its kinda sad since this has been my home for 4 years and moving around to a different space I think is kinda weird. But change can be a good thing too. I have been pondering this for a few weeks and I think now that I've done it I'm excited. I hope you follow me over to my new journal if not then I will miss you though most of you I have not "met". Things will be very different at All Good Things. Links to this post. I chose his gril...

A peek into our daily cooking, crafting, organizing, and homesteading life. Whoa, thats a lot of water! Thats a lot of water up my nose! And some in my mouth. Yeck! Thats was fun, lets do it again! Posted at 05:55 PM in Chloe. This weekend our friends threw a party for everyone with a birthday in 2014. The kids and adults played Minute to Win It- style games, enjoyed good food, shared a lot of laughs, and ended the night with several hours of around-the-world ping pong. It was such a fun day!
