A Hopeful Mormon

Finding my way back. Sunday, May 29, 2011. He Knows Your Heart. I had a good, long phone conversation with a friend yesterday. It was good to catch up with her. Something she said, though, got me to thinking - got me to think about how I talk to others, especially within the framework of the church and gospel. What would your answer be? Her answer was that she felt it more important to spend time with her father. He, the member of the bishopric, told her that the right answer should have been church.

A Hopeful Mormon: Right Place - Right Time

http://www.ahopefulmormon.blogspot.com/2011/05/right-place-right-time.html

Finding my way back. Wednesday, May 25, 2011. Right Place - Right Time. One of my favorite lessons from the scriptures is that I want to be an instrument in the Lord's hands. Sometimes that brings visions of grandeur. Wanting to give every homeless person a warm, comfortable place to sleep. Wanting to fill every hungry child's belly. Wanting to save the world. Twice within the past 24 hours, He has asked me to help out in very small and simple ways. Last night, the missionaries were trying to visit s...

A Hopeful Mormon: Watch this, Mommy!

http://www.ahopefulmormon.blogspot.com/2011/05/watch-this-mommy.html

Finding my way back. Sunday, May 8, 2011. Watch this, Mommy! Today is Mother's Day. I would love to go visit my mama today, but it's a long way to the cemetery and I don't currently have (legal) wheels. Still, it's a good day to pay tribute and tell you some of the things about Mama that are in my heart. That was mama - considerate to the end. When I was very small, I would play in the backyard of our home in Hunter, and occasionally call out - "Watch this, mommy! As I did something particularly acrobati...

A Hopeful Mormon: April 2011

http://www.ahopefulmormon.blogspot.com/2011_04_01_archive.html

Finding my way back. Tuesday, April 26, 2011. The Lord Found Me Again. They found me again. But this time it was a different companionship. And I had a different attitude. Maybe I was prepared. But this time I was smiling when I said it. I really was glad to see them. We chatted for a few minutes. I found out one elder is from Washington State and the other is from Florida. Both of them also hope for warmer weather soon. I am taking baby steps. For the past few days I have begun and ended my day both...

A Hopeful Mormon: January 2011

http://www.ahopefulmormon.blogspot.com/2011_01_01_archive.html

Finding my way back. Sunday, January 30, 2011. Most of us, I presume, have heard the story of Jonah, the Old Testament Prophet. For those who need a refresher, here's the basic outline:. Okay, so there's a little more to the story, but for the purposes of this post, that's all we need to cover. Because I have become a Jonah. I have a Jonah Complex. I have been running from the Lord. Odd thing is, every single Saturday. But invariably, I don't go. Saturday, January 29, 2011. Ever feel like you're just cli...

The British Homemaker - One day at a time: Granny's Apron

http://thebritishhomemaker.blogspot.com/2014/06/grannys-apron.html

The British Homemaker - One day at a time. Tuesday, 3 June 2014. The History of 'APRONS'. I don't think our kids know what an apron is. The principle use of Grandma's apron was to protect the dress underneath because she only had a few. It was also because it was easier to wash aprons than dresses and aprons used less material. But along with that, it served as a pot holder for removing hot pans from the oven. When company came, those aprons were ideal hiding places for shy kids. It will be a long time b...

The British Homemaker - One day at a time. Thursday, 30 October 2014. Life has been somewhat chaotic of late. The biggest thing to deal with has been my moms cancer. Whilst she is now recovering and doing profoundly well I have to admit that it does still play in my mind of the usual thoughts 'what would I do without her? So I've buried my head a little. As well as working away at the business to get it as established as I can. Then dealing with the arthritis. Regain some momentum with it. As it is curre...

A Hopeful Reader

Monday, November 19, 2012. Anywho, the book talked about how eating like the Tarahumara leads to more energy and stronger athletic ability. The author talked about the benefits of getting your daily vegetable intake in at the start of the day. Somehow, this made a lot of sense to me when I was reading it last night, and I tried a breakfast salad this morning. Anyone have hints for a great and healthy breakfast (but not a smoothie with kale.just how that looks grosses me out)? Thursday, November 15, 2012.
