Caddy in Africa: March 2010
http://totalabuzit.blogspot.com/2010_03_01_archive.html
Saturday, March 27, 2010. Thanks goes to the mammy for changing my prescription the morning before I left to Uganda! I was pretty depressed, nervous and scared off it but I thought it was just normal given that I was heading on a big trip. I also couldn't sleep much or make any decisions which was extremely irritating! And I didn't really chat to people because it felt really weird talking to people! So, sorry about that! All good since I came off it and changed medication! Last weekend was technically o...

Caddy in Africa: April 2010
http://totalabuzit.blogspot.com/2010_04_01_archive.html
Tuesday, April 6, 2010. Indians and Crocodiles, Easter Pigs and Lovely People. March so I had to head up to Kamuli to withdraw cash for the last time. I left class promptly and headed up nervous of whether I’d get any cash out, thinking the machine might just swallow my card and then I’d be, well…fecked! Bad weather – power cut.power cut – no ATM…no ATM – no Murchison falls and no money! A taxi came, I had my cash and Murchison was back on! The kids went off and I was in a taxi with a bunch of Dutch peop...

Wednesday, June 16, 2010. Found it yesterday though so all is back on track just a few weeks late.Africa Time! Last week was extreeemmmeeellly heavy for many reasons which we best not go into. Let's just say we'd problems coming up in the community, with a friend out in town and a lot of work. Just as Anna reassured me ' Well the week can't get much worse really can it? That cut short a visit to Buwaya (Emily's placement) which is a lot more rural than my own but they can't complain! Then I've also set u...

Caddy in Africa: Jinja - beer, burgers, psychos and good views
http://totalabuzit.blogspot.com/2010/03/jinja.html
Saturday, March 27, 2010. Jinja - beer, burgers, psychos and good views. Last weekend was technically our weekend off but given that we worked uuuuuuber hard we all decided to take this weekend off instead. So myself and 5 of the internationals headed to Jinja. I think I wrote a little bit about this place before but basically Jinja is a town an hour away from my placement. It feels like a midwest town in the States. They have craaaazzzy looking birds straight out of Jurrasic Park! After Herbert's "only"...

Olugendo: Setteling In
http://joycenicholls.blogspot.com/2010/02/setteling-in.html
Since day one, we have added some furnishings to our new home. Mosquito nets, pots and pans, jerry cans, a GIANT sack of charcoal, PILES of monitoring and evaluation SPW forms, mattresses and all of our personal belongings that we lugged from far far away. It's all rather snug and cosy these days. Our front porch is also a lovely addition to the house! So once we'd settled in, it was down to work! Riding a bicycle through sugar cane plantations, learning how to mingle posho, bathing with half a bucket of...
