I am currently working on pieces that will be featured in my forthcoming exhibition;. A series of intense watercolour paintings; these are an extension of the Post Modern Sublime pieces created in 2009. The paintings are produced using blue and make reference to Willow pattern ceramics; the intention is to preserve the spirit of the local landscape by referencing the familiar and romantic reference of blue and white ceramics. I intend to create some porcelain pieces in response to theses paintings.

The work is pluralist in that it is beautiful but acts as an escape from the grind of daily life. The work is a criticism of the state of our society and draws on Jean Baudillard s (1988) ideas that imitation has preceded the original, that we reproduce nature as opposed to experience it.
