Why I started Aikido — and Why I Kept Coming. May 26, 2013. I wouldn’t say I signed up for Aikido by accident … but it wasn’t my original intent. My son was allowed to try out two classes for free … and I liked what I saw, so signed him up after that. Almost immediately, I realized that I might as well sign myself up, as well … why should I just sit there watching when I could get involved, too? My son and I during our 4th kyu test.
