And as I put my other hat on…. August 27, 2013. Some of you – the twelve thousand people who’ve looked at my web-site (where you come from I don’t understand) – may have noticed. I haven’t had much to say in the last year… not on-line anyway. What’s happened is … well, quite a few things have happened actually. A new great grandchild (beautiful boy! Laquo; Feels right, looks good! A Leaf Before the Wind. The Museum of Chidhood have highlighted on their homepage a wee coat and hat made under the Utility scheme in the 1940s. It was one of two objects offered to me as my ‘object’ for the 26 Treasures Exhibition held at the museum last year. The other was a highchair, which I chose to write my sestude (poem of 62 words) about, as readers of my blog will remember. But I had a great affection for the coat and hat! She reads ma pettit lip. Lucky, am I nae?

Over the last year I’ve had regular articles in the magazine: poetry, prose all linked to the theme of independence, of course, and all including Scots language. ‘My Leid’ , written as a response to an article by Sion Jobbins in Camra Magazine, in which he seemed to think that Gaelic and English were the two languages of Scotland, was subsequently reprinted in Camra.

In the past I’ve been a teacher, adviser, researcher, policymaker: a storyteller, craft worker, tutor. I’ve been lucky: never had a job I didn’t love. I think I’ve been especially successful in developing projects; developing other people’s confidence and voices; encouraging people to claim their rights. I was a good ‘networker’, making alliances to bring about real change. I’m loving the challenge.

In my Hector McDiddle storytelling workshops children explore the contents of Hector's suitcase, learn to sing his song and dance to the tune of his papier mache fiddle. A chance meeting with the composer Richard Ingham led to an exciting musical celebration of Marion Angus poems at. The Heisenburg Ensemble , conducted by Richard, presented ‘Drift o Rain on Moorland Stane’ , while I read the poems. I loved the collaboration and was pleased to be promoting Marion's work. StAnza Poetry Festival - St Andrews.

My Specialist Practice is my final major project for my course, I am using this blog to record my process and to receive constructive feedback to expand my ideas and achieve high quality images.
