The Loveliest Lie | Joseph Family Blog
https://aimeejoseph.wordpress.com/2015/04/05/the-loveliest-lie
Prose, poems, ponderings. People love to call God’s bluff, always have and always will. It started with a Serpent who planted the seeds of distrust, saying to our forebears, “Did God really say…? 8221; and has continued ever since. Did God really say to worship Him alone? Did God really say there is but one way to the Father? Did God really say to turn the other cheek? To love those who hate us? To be holy as He holy? That He would rise again? But He did flood the earth again. Only this time, He floo...

Prose, poems, ponderings. A Svelt Hippo and a Suffering Savior. Suffering and prospering seem as incongruous as a svelt hippo; yet for the Christian, these two have been wed at the Cross. If you were reading a book and saw those two words strung together, you would stop and do a double-take as they don’t belong together. Such a strange combination of words produces two very incongruous images in one’s mind. When studying Isaiah 52 this week, I came across such a svelt hippo. July 15, 2016. If you were re...
The Artful Arranger | Joseph Family Blog

Prose, poems, ponderings. Every once in a while I splurge and buy a bouquet of flowers from Trader Joes. I snip the edges, throw them into a plain vase and consider that a victory in the flower department. I watch Amma during our visits to Texas. Her eyes naturally gravitate to flora. She notices every blade, bush and begonia. Withour her saying a word, I can see her mind rushing ahead of her into arrangements that perfectly suit each one. At the end of a bumbling yet beautiful life, King David finds gre...
Bemoaning Boredom | Joseph Family Blog

Prose, poems, ponderings. Communication is not what is spoken but what is heard. Throughout the day, there are about a billion things I say to my children. I am not sure what, if anything, gets through. There’s only one sure fire way to know what is actually being communicated to their little hearts and minds. Eavesdropping. In my shock, I may or may not have dropped the laundry I was folding. They are actually listening to me. I see it in my boys who claim boredom in the midst of bins of toys and in bet...
Bathing In Black | Joseph Family Blog
https://aimeejoseph.wordpress.com/2015/04/19/bathing-in-black
Prose, poems, ponderings. That being said, as everyone else is rushing to Target for Lilly bathing suits or some other cute, stringy floral or striped bikini, I will be dusting off the good old classy black one piece I rock. In fact, I rock it so well that I have three versions of the same simple black suit. But as always, the Bible prescribes something much more risky and intrusive, yet far more freeing and healthy than hiding or covering up on a dark backdrop. Jesus invites us to walk toward the blindi...

http://ashleychristinaadams.blogspot.com/2012/01/two-words-for-2012.html
But I press on to make it my own.". Monday, January 16, 2012. Two words for 2012. Now i didn't want just any word just to say i had one, i wanted it to really mean something. Do you ever look through your order of worship and circle, box or highlight words that you want to remember? I do it every week. Words that come with such depth or words that will help me recall what was preached that day. As i was circling my words these two simple words jumped off the page for me. Romans 5:8 “ But God. Shows his l...

Here a glimpse. there a glory. Learning to live this temporal life through the lens of eternity."For now we see in a mirror dimly, but then face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I have been fully known." 1 Corinthians 13:12. Sunday, November 27, 2011. With a thankful heart. welcome advent. That's why I love Thanksgiving. Because it's followed so closely by Christmas. Which means lots and lots of family time. In the span of a couple of months! We had a house full last week.

Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I have been fully known." 1 Corinthians 13:12. Sunday, January 30, 2011. A good song. a great reminder. We sang this song in worship this morning. I was reminded of God's preeminence. And sovereignty over all.even his enemies. Among whom I once was counted. Wonder and awe surround you, Lord. Her love ...

Thursday, July 26, 2012. Celebrating one month with our sweet Reagan! And that is why my life is crazy! But amidst adjusting to life with three kiddos and packing up our house and anticipating moving and getting adjusted to a new city, I'm trying to be thankful for all the smaller (and bigger) things lately. Here are just a few I've been keeping mental notes of. The growing friendship between Krieg and Karis that has really developed a ton the last few months. A baby who only really cries when she's tired.

A student journalists view. Friday, June 1, 2012. Documentary filmed and edited by Aimee Pickering and Charlotte Clarke. Our initial brief was to produce a five to ten minute documentary under the heading "Land". As a group, Charlotte Clarke and I were assigned 'livestock farming' as our focus. Http:/ dig.ccmixter.org/. The website was ideal for our production as it has a wide variety of sound tracks and has no legal restrictions. As much as possible we left the camera still and moved away, to encourage ...
