Ballroom Dancing In Dallas. Irina has suggested an additional exercise for me to do every day. This one is designed specifically to improve my Jive. From a standing position rise up on your toes. Hop into the air as high as possible. Land on your toes and avoid making any noise when landing. This exercise should make the hopping look in my Jive come more naturally. Posted by Jon at 2:36 PM. Ballroom Dancing In Dallas: December 2005

Ballroom Dancing In Dallas. I've recently started learning International style Tango, which is similar in style to American tango. The basic step reminds me of a hybrid of the American tango basic and the American foxtrot basic. It consists of two forward walks (starting with the left foot), after which the let hip swings around to bring the left foot out to the side, ending in promenade. Posted by Jon at 11:15 AM. Ballroom Dancing In Dallas. This weekend I had another coaching session with Mazen. We divided the session between Rumba and Foxtrot. Start with both legs straight and hips neutral. Bend the left knee, lifting the left heel off the ground and pulling the right hip back. Straighten the left knee and bend the right knee. This should pull the left hip back. Bring the right foot next to the left foot, while keeping the right heel off the ground. Step right with the right foot and land on a very slightly flex...

Ballroom Dancing In Dallas. Today the bronze I group class at the Ballroom at Preston. Next we worked on doing multiple under-arm turns from promenade and multiple pivots after a promenade pivot. In both cases the basic concept is to change the timing to repeat the quick-quick for each turn or pivot. Multiple turns are pretty easy, but pivots proved challenging. I need to focus on keeping my head to the left while pivoting, I also need to make sure that my forward steps are still heal steps. We spent a l...

Ballroom Dancing In Dallas. Lastnight I got my first real taste of Pasa Doble. My initial impression is that it seems like a cross between Tango and Merengue. The basic step is essentially the same as Merengue, but without any latin motion, so it ends up being almost like a march. The step I'm working on is essentially an open box, and is accomplished in the following manner:. Step to the left with the left foot . Begin shaping the body so that the right side is lower than the left. Return to step 1.
