Ainsdale beach is one of the finest on the North West coast, it is one of the three designated bathing beaches on the Sefton coast. TripAdvisor. Rank it (at the time of writing) #4 of Southport attractions. Parking is on the beach itself, it has RNLI lifeguards. At peak times and facilities are not very far away. For more information including rules on parking, camping, etc. see the Sefton Council. Dogs and horses are not allowed 200m each way from the beach entrance to the tide line during the period 1.

A Brief History of Ainsdale. In the 9th Century this area was in the Kingdom of Northumbria. In 937 the result of the Battle of Brunanburgh brought the area into Mercia. Very little was recorded until Norman times when, as already mentioned, William the Conqueror ordered the compilation of the Domesday Book, Ainsdale was valued at two carucates of land (this amount would require 16 teams of 8 oxen to plough in one year).
